I got this when I tried the overclocking option in the settings. Is it worth trying underclocking?

I modified this script and moved all what takes too long to cron. Now cron saves results (example weather) in file every hour and during login script reads this from file. It's faster.

Re: Raspberry Pi getting weird local IP address?

Its even easier doing it in your router if it allows reserved IP's. In my Edimax just let the router give you an IP and click on reserve and apply, then it always gets the same IP address.

I've just tried installing the Transmission-Daemon, it runs fine, but when it tries to write the Torrent Data to my external USB drive, Im getting a write failure due to permissions. What user does the Daemon run under? I presumed it was Pi, but doesnt look like it. :-(

If you want to have a delve around the directory structure without wearing your fingers out typing, install Midnight Commander (sudo apt-get install mc) its an open source version of the dos program Norton Commander, an absolutely invaluable program to me in my 386/486 days. (Ah memories!)

Scratch the above recommendation, It died on me, and thought it charges up ok, it outputs power on and off. A replacement does the same. Dont buy it!

Use a powered hub, your Pi hasnt enough juice to power an external drive.
