Replace camera on board

I had a bit of an accident and I believe I have given my camera (1.3) a nasty zap of static. I have an old smart phone knocking about, and noticed when I opened it up a while ago that it has the same "sunny" connector. You can tell what I'm thinking here - is it likely to work? I'm thinking probably...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

To have a basic non-controllable view page (untested, but pretty sure it should work as stated): 1. When prompted for a directory during the RPi_Cam install, enter "admin" 2. Follow the instructions here to password protect the admin directory. 3. From the www directory, "sudo ln -T admin/cam_pic.ph...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I can't remember if this has been brought up already, but would it be possible to have the media files created with permissions 664 rather than 644? 664 would mean that I can add www-data to my user, then I don't need to sudo all the time to edit things. Or is there some security reason that this wo...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

With regards to testing, could you make the update command do a "git pull origin `git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD`", so that we can easily switch branches to test at will? I've just had a go, but might want to switch back if I have any problems.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

This is probably a consequence of changing raspimjpeg to www-data whereas before it ran as root. As raspimjpeg starts and stops motion then motion was running as root before but now runs as www-data so doesn't have same permissions as before. I don't want to spend time on that as we hope to abandon...

Re: circular buffer for pre-trigger video?

Now there is a capture buffer the latency introduced before a trigger is less important. Can you expand upon this point? I see at http://elinux.org/RPi-Cam-Web-Interface it mentions "Circular buffer to capture the last actions afterwards" as a feature, but that is the only mention of "buffer" on th...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

we are building in the equivalent of minimum_motion_frames as well Will this work as it does now (not trigger recording until the number of frames has been reached) or will it work as motion does when recording natively, which is to record continuously in the background and save the recording once ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

just FYI. Now that the web interface isn't usually crashing at sunset, it exposes a behavior of the camera: about 20 minutes after local sunrise and 50 minutes after local sunset (we are currently on PDT - daylight savings time) where it is locally dawn/dusk the camera image becomes more noisy and ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

That is definitely not going to work. Time lapse and video capture are mutually exclusive at the lowest camera connection level in raspimjpeg. The web interface stops you doing this, but as you have discovered it is possible to send commands to do this and the process then curls up and dies. We can...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Hi I have very simple script which is: 1) checking if raspimjpeg is running, if yes: 2) echo "ca 1" > /var/www/FIFO; sleep 120; echo "ca 0" > /var/www/FIFO; sleep 0; and with this I have 2 minutes files recorded in the directory, it worked fine, till I upgraded yesterday to the latest version. I se...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I've been trying to get both 1920x1080 video and the maximum resolution timelapse at the same time. When I add "md 1; tl 1" to my motion start command in the scheduler, I get the "Restart camera or whole Pi" error shortly after motion is detected. Is anyone able to make this work, or should I lower ...

Re: Persistent/reconnecting wifi

Well scripts posted here seem to be very complex, but for me works just fine this simple one: #!/bin/bash if ! [ "$(ping -c 1 192.168.65.254)" ]; then sudo ifdown wlan0 sudo ifup wlan0 fi I use my router IP address as sometimes the internet connection is broken on provider side, so it makes no sens...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Hi guys, Everything works great, thanks a lot! A have one issue by the way - it seems that my changes to the motion config are not applied. I start motion detection then open its setting in the web interface, change the target directory, save setting, stop/start, reboot.... tried different things. ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Many thanks to all involved for your hard work on this. I too have a feature request, but I understand if it's not technically possible because it'd have to run on the ARM. When setting the preview size, can we actually resize the video, not just the HTML video element? Perhaps when you click on a v...

Realtime motion detection using raspivid

Having trawled through the various posts about people attempting motion detection, and tried a few things myself, here's a few summary points: it is perfectly possible to run a build of motion (sophisticated motion detection software) for the raspberry pi, but it only works at low resolutions/framer...
