Re: Pi as Scada (webserver)

Yes, its very possible, in fact I'm in the middle of creating a SCADA application that runs directly on the Pi. The biggest problem you have is getting data from the PLC, depending on what PLC you have, you will have to talk to it in a different manner. If you tell me what PLC you are working with I...

Re: controller a 3 axis CNC machine

A lot of the CNC projects (or 3D printers) use some type of standalone board to control the steppers. For example, one of these http://www.adafruit.com/product/1749 could be used to just send G-Code via a USB cable. I always liked this a lot better anyway since it doesn't rely on bit-banging a port ...

Re: Put Automation WebioPi live on internet

Did you run the "make install" command that asked for your username and password?

You also need to run the command at the bottom to start the no-ip client. After that you need to configure your router for port forwarding: http://www.noip.com/support/knowledgeba ... sl-router/

Re: Put Automation WebioPi live on internet

You don't need hosting, since you already have a host (the Pi). What you need is a DNS service to point a web domain to your Pi. Since your router uses a dynamic address, you would need a dynamic DNS service to do it. If you search the internet for Dynamic DNS, you will find a lot of providers for t...

Re: Support for OMX Face Recog

I apologize for not having an answer, but is this something you couldn't use OpenCV for? There may be a lot more support for it, there was a blog post here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/facial-recog ... era-board/

Re: Modbus rs 485

There isn't an easy answer to "will it work", the Pi runs Linux so it "should" work, but if there is code in there that depends on an X86 or IA64 then it won't run on the ARM in the Pi. If it includes the source, you can try compiling it on the Pi, you'll have to download the sources and the toolcha...

Re: C# on the Rpi

bonzadog, What languages would you consider interesting/useful? <snip> 3) C++ has always allowed everything 1) and 2) can do. After all, Java and C# compilers and run times are written in C++. Admittedly the libraries of C++ re a bit lacking but with the help of Qt you can write the same app for Wi...

Re: Modbus rs 485

Sure, its possible. The tough part will be finding drivers for the USB to RS485. After that there are a number of modbus libraries depending on the language you choose to code in. You'll also need a way to get the temperature back into the Pi, and decide on what type of sensor to use. I'm assuming t...

Re: I don't work at a bowling alley....

Honestly I think the Rpi may be overkill for this type of project. By the time you get done designing a daughterboard for the Rpi and multiple pi's, you're going to be way over your head. Something like this: http://denkovi.com/ethernet-16-relay-board-controlled-via-web-snmp-internet may be what you...

Re: Permission Problem over Installing Qt 5.0

Are you sure you are performing this action in a sub-directory of your home directory? If you are in the root /opt directory or you missed the ~ when creating the QT directory (should be mkdir ~ /opt, not /opt) you may be trying to clone into a directory that requires super-user permissions. Can you...

Re: wiringPiISR Problems

I'm not sure what the problem is since you didn't really elaborate on what you were experiencing, but it may be due to the "inWork" variable not being declared as volatile. Volatile means that the processor should not cache the value of inWork since it may change in different contexts. Using the vol...

Re: Processing toxiclips Library For Raspberrypi

Are you viewing your Rpi desktop over VNC? Try running the program with local monitor attached. Open GL uses a lower level API and VNC programs don't access the data from that API directly.

Re: slideshow control with sensor control

Apache Impress (part of Open Office) ( https://www.openoffice.org/product/impress.html ) is very similar to PowerPoint. You could use that for a slideshow. How you handle the sensor part is a little trickier, you could create a script (in any number of languages) to look at a digital pin and then em...

Re: Lock violation on path /sys/class/gpio/export

Seems to be a known issue, might want to look here:

https://pisharp.codeplex.com/workitem/1240

They had the same problem, and it was resolved. I would look through the changeset and see what was modified to fix the problem.
