Re: Power supply issues

The yellow lightening bolt is NOT caused by a power issue, but because the OS has not been adapted for the newer 3B+ hardware. See the boot problem sticky.

Re: Solid RED and GREEN

read the boot problem sticky. only a blinking green ACT light provides information, not its initial condition, and if the red PWR led is off, then you have a power fail. So solid red and green leds provide no information, other than it seems power is good, at least most of the time. inserting no sd-...

Re: Raspberry as Commercial Arcade

The hardware and software issues are solvable, but as scottie101 pointed out, legality is the real problem. You can't just use someone else's intellectual property for profit without their permission. So unless you are planning on writing your own games (and possibly your own emulator), you will ha...

Re: The 5V GPIO Power Question

All PI's except the zero have overvoltage protection that will short the 5V line when it raises above 6.0V, so putting 6.5V on it is an absolute no no.  The SoC itself is also powered directly from 5V, at least in many models of the PI, if not all of them.

Re: CB beacon out of raspberry pi

why not use an actual CB transceiver to handle the radio portion, and rig up the Pi to handle the beacon control? it is a setup many HAM radio users use for digital communications. you just need to build a matching circuit to match the audio output from the Pi to the Mic level input of the CB trans...

Here: :ugeek: Directly --> No. first you need to connect something like this to the GPIO https://www.adafruit.com/product/3006 then connect the speaker to it. if you want to just plug something to the GPIO then this might be better https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/adafruit-i2s-3w-stereo-speaker-bo...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ reset button

Its not a connection for a reset button, it never has been.
in the latest incarnation of the PI, the pin next to the RUN pin is no longer connected to GND, but has a new function.
Therefore connecting a button between the two pins cannot be used to restart the SoC.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ doesn't boot

The OS you are trying to boot predates the PI3B+, and cannot boot on a PI3+, stooping at the GPU test screen (rainbow screen), with a fake undervoltage warning is the standard behavior when that happens. Use the latest version of Raspbian, as you can find in downloads, and use Etcher to overwrite wh...

However your recommendation about plugging the stick into the Pi - how is that different than plugging my stick into my laptop? That is not the question.
I know, but because that isn't possible, I mentioned the alternative, the other alternative is to use a (wired or wireless) network.

Re: Suitable power bank for PI3

Try it, if you get undervoltage warning, then your powerbank is not suitable to power what you are doing with the PI.

how much current is needed depends on what you are doing, for example adding power hungry USB devices, or running GPU intensive software will draw more current.

Re: Pi emulate USB stick?

Not possible with a PI3(+) or PI2, possible with a PI Zero. A PI3 cannot act as an USB device, only as an USB master. A zero can be an USB OTG device. Main reason for other PI's why this isn't possible is because of the LAN9512 (or equivalent) chip in between USB ports and SoC. Just plug an USB stic...

Re: GPIO Pin Audio Speaker, how?

There are really two ways possible, the first is to duplicate the AV output, by redirecting the PWM used for the AV analogue sound signal to one, or two, GPIO pins, then replicate the same filter circuit that the AV port is using. This is only really a solution for PI zero's, who do not already have...

Yeah, I could follow that by using google translate, sorry if I interfered.

If he is good with electronics, perhaps there is a possibility he can attempt to repair the quad-supply chip.
I'm surprised the thing is not short circuit protected though.

https://www.ras...

The use of a PI as a radio transmitter without suitable equipment (a radio transmitter dongle) is not technically possible without interference, and thus illegal, and discussion about it here tends to be deleted to protect the innocent.

Re: The 5V GPIO Power Question

The range of voltages that are acceptable for the PI is any voltage between 4.75V and 5.25V, BECAUSE USB devices need this range! The PI itself is mostly 3V3 powered, and the 3V3 regulator will keep working on a voltage below that 4.65V (that is why the PI can show an undervoltage event without cras...

Its not a "minor thing", we are indeed very concerned about abuse of the term Raspbian, we are still trying to come up with a good name for Debian with the raspberry PI desktop, we initially called it "pixel", but had to retract that name. Raspbian should only be used for the OS running on a real ra...
