Re: Running wheezy

I've made the correction to the missing systemctl in the script and I no longer get an error. On reboot and: mysql -u heatmiser heatmiser mysql> show tables; Empty set (0.00 sec) mysql> I can manually check that the heatmiser daemon is running by: ~/heatmiser-wifi-read-only/bin/heatmiser.pl -h 192.1...

Re: Running wheezy

I don't appear to have it working. Before rebooting i got this err: pi@Heatmiser-Wifi:~ $ sudo systemctl enable heatmiser.service; sudo start heatmiser.service sudo: start: command not found After the reboot, mysql doesn't appear to have updated using : mysql -u heatmiser heatmiser and SHOW TABLES; ...

Re: Running wheezy

This application worked faultlessly until Jessie jumped in and wrecked everything. I've got other pi's running Jessie and that is fine, but for this particular application, I need to turn back the clock to two or three years ago. Rather than taking the unsupported and (when LTS ends) completely uns...

Running wheezy

I'd like to install wheezy on an original model b raspberry pi, as I need to use upstart. The specific application I am wanting to run must have it to work correctly, and I am unable to convert it. The application is also no longer supported by the author. This application worked faultlessly until J...

Re: Printing queue has stopped

SOLUTION I went to http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Brother/Brother-HL-4050CDN Where in the forum it mentioned that the 4150 was compatible with the 4050 I downloaded the the 'directly download ppd' from the site. Installed it via Cups from a browser and took a test page - and it works!! Strange...

I tried both cupsenable and cupsdisable with no effect

Also accessing cups is ok bu server:631, but the queue remains stopped after I try to print

Printing queue has stopped

I have a Brother HL-4150cdn laser printer attached to my network and I can access it from all my computers and tablets. I have recently added a Raspberry Pi 3 to the network and it works fine as I am practicing my assembler skills. I installed CUPs using ssh from a mac using this tutorial: https://w...

Native graphical RPI/ARM disassembler / monitor

Does there exist a graphical disassembler and monitor which can run on the raspberry pi under Raspbian? I particularly remember a programme on the BEEB I think was called monitor, which permitted single stepping through the 6502 source and object code and registers. At the time I found it invaluable...

Re: Old code not running on 2016 Rasbian Jessie

I've tried what you suggest and used the wheezy version (and older) that you suggested Each time I get to the : sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install upstart section and try the: sudo start heatmiser_daemon the daemon fails to start - a consequence of which is the mysql database contains no data....

Re: Old code not running on 2016 Rasbian Jessie

Thanks - I'll give that a try.

However I'd still like to know more about how use it with Jessie.

Old code not running on 2016 Rasbian Jessie [twice over obsolete]

I monitor my central heating using a great piece of software using heatmiser-wifi written by Alex Thoukydides . https://github.com/thoukydides/heatmiser-wifi It has worked well over the past three years until I had to reinstall to the latest version of raspbian jessie. (power cable accidentally pull...

Halts before login or desktop

I'm running a RPi using ssh. From the ssh terminal on my Mac all appears well. I have apache2 and mysql working to display on a web page my central heating in the form of a graph with outside temperates also plotted, using heatmiser-wifi from Alexander Thoukydides. My main concern is that on the RPi...

Re: Switching from sysvinit to Upstart in Wheezy

I discovered that if already logged on
sudo shutdown -h now

for a safe shutdown
then restart the pi

the error then seems to go away

B+ speed

I use my Mac to control my existing and original Pi.

I use Chicken on the Mac to interact with the pi using its vncserver.

The pi runs ok, but would the new B+ respond any faster when editing assembler code from my Mac?

Re: Why Pi when you can just run Linux?

<t>I don't intend to be negative here but I am trying to justify to myself the possible added expense of offering RPI in the classroom, when I can run an emulator with the image running a linux flavour for nothing.<br/> <br/> One Pi perhaps for a class, but the cost of moving keyboards mice and new ...

Re: Mac VMWare Fusion & Rapberry Pi

Is it possible to run a emulated Raspberry Pi within VMWare Fusion on a iMac?

If so, how?

If not, how else could it be done?
