Re: Pi Zero Available at Microcenter in Boston - Feb 16

I kept checking online for the Cincinnati Ohio Microcenter store and no joy for a Pi Zero until today. I'm going to be heading to the store today to pick one (or two) up. :)

Re: Lego case

I built a slight variation on this Lego case design:

Most of my changes were parts substitutions which didn't visibly alter the case design. But the one thing I added was a window so the LED's on the board can be seen.

Re: Buying a RP in the USA

Read my email at home and saw that the Raspberry Pi I ordered on the 10th shipped yesterday. UPS estimates delivery time to be tomorrow. Woot! :D

Re: Buying a RP in the USA

I got a phone call today from Newark/element 14 to ask how the ordering process went, asked me if I had any questions, and let me know I'd get the upgraded RAM when my Pi ships. I was a bit shocked since most companies these days don't bother to call their customers to actually talk to them.

Looks like the Pi I ordered will have 512MB of RAM. Woo hoo!

Re: Buying a RP in the USA

Given the wait times I've seen in this thread, I assumed that by the time they ship mine, it would be a Rev 2 board. That said, a Rev 1 board wouldn't be a problem for me. Order date for me was 10/10/2012. Estimated ship date is 11/1/2012. So, the ship date estimate is about 3 weeks from the order ...

Re: Buying a RP in the USA

Since the Rev 2 boards are out, I finally decided to order a Pi today. I'm in the US and placed my order with Newark/element 14, so we'll see how this goes.

Re: Photo Frame as a Display

It's been done. Google "digital picture frame linux" and you'll find lots of stuff, including people who've done this using their Pi.

Re: Policy on self-assembling?

Having said that, there must be designs out there for hobbyists to build a computing device on a pcb. There are, but they typically don't have all of the features of the Pi (such as HDMI output, RCA composite video output, and etc) and are typically have less CPU and less RAM than the Pi. Unfortuna...

Re: Berry Box - The Transparent Case

I really like the Lego compatibility.  I posted a message to the Lugnet Robotics forum.  Hopefully the news will spread.

Re: Cheapish HDMI portable display

<t>Here in the US, I regularly see 19" 720p tv/monitors on sale for less than $100.  I'd think that would be a good solution for a development monitor as long as you don't require 1080p for some odd reason. The built in TV tuner would be a bonus.<br/> <br/> A cheaper solution would be an old (recycl...

Re: Introduce yourself!

<t>I've been hardware hacking and programming since the mid-80's.  I started with a C-64 computer and tape drive.  Later I added a floppy drive, printer, monitor and software which drove the cost of my complete system to over $2,000 US when adjusted for inflation.  A $40 computer for hacking (cost p...
