Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

I can confirm rvajf00's experience - I downloaded the latest Jessie Lite image (2016-03-18) copied to an SD card, booted then ran through the detailed instructions (basically three or 4 lines of commands to copy and paste into a SSH session) and after a reboot, get the kernel booting messages on the...

Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

Hi DirkS, Thanks for your assistance but still no joy on the Pi3. I can confirm that the 'fbcon=map:10' entry is there in the cmdline.txt file. The quote is actually from another user's posting where they state that they got the 2.8 TFT working by editing the adafruit helper script. Within that scri...

Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

@DirkS Finally got a chance to try your suggestion which was (with slight corrections): wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/npjc52s2z6ifk55/pitft35r-overlay.dtb?dl=0 -O pitft35r-overlay.dtb sudo mv pitft35r-overlay.dtb /boot/overlays/ wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/adafruit/Adafruit-PiTFT-Helper/...

Re: 2 RPI3 with 2 SD both not booting

I can upload some images next weekend if it helps, but I can boot from the latest Jessie image, it's just the older ones which fail.

Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

Thanks! I will try that when I next get a spare moment.

I was SSHing into the Pi remotely via an Ethernet cable.

Re: 2 RPI3 with 2 SD both not booting

Sounds similar to my experience. Bought a Pi3 on Monday, arrived Tuesday, found time to experiment with it on Saturday. Tried 2 different PSUs (including the new official one for Pi3), three different SD cards (one SanDisk, two PNY of different speeds). The ONLY image I could get to boot was the 201...

Re: Will we need to start again or upgrade for Pi 3

Yes - the relation is that the existing software for the screen fails to boot and if you update a working Jessie installation it also causes a boot failure. So it definitely seems that the kernel and other updates for the screen are an issue at the moment. But, for the topic of this thread, my point...

Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

Yes - I followed the tutorial to install the Adafruit repos and then used the helper script.
Pi was working fine until the reboot after the update.

Re: Will we need to start again or upgrade for Pi 3

Confused! I got a Pi3 earlier this week and then tried to boot from some previous Wheezy images but with no luck. Then tried an 'old' Jessie image - no luck either. Only the 2016-02-26-raspbian-jessie-lite.img image booted for me. Symptom of non-boot was solid red LED and green LED flashing 4 long t...

Re: raspbery pi 3 PITFT PLUS

I have a Pi 3 and the AdaFruit 3.5" TFT (for model 2) and there are software issues. Cannot boot the supplied Jessie or Wheezy images available from AdaFruit. If you find a Jessie image that boots OK, when you update it to cater for the screen, it fails to boot after the update. I get a solid r...

Mea culpa - 'twas a h/w problem PhilE - thanks for fast response - I was trying to find a way to get the moderators to cancel the post as just I spent yet more time looking around in Google and I found another post (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20772110/raspberry-pi-uart-serial-wont-work) whi...

Re: I2C, SPI, I2S, LIRC, PPS, stopped working? Read this.

Does devicetree affect the operation of /dev/ttyAMA0 ? I am trying to upgrade a system running on an original Pi B to a model 2 and I no longer see any outputs on my serial-line connected LCD. I am following the update/upgrade route rather than starting afresh due to some longwinded software instal...
