Re: FreeBSD on Raspberry Pi 2 B

I've been watching the FreeBSD/ARM mailing list and the FreeBSD forums. So far as I can tell, a bootable FreeBSD image for the Raspberry Pi 2 does not exist. BCM2836 support and u-boot support are being worked on but are not ready. Competing priorities for the developer's time are unclear.

As of now, the camera module is listed under "what still needs to be done" on the FreeBSD/arm/Raspberry Pi wiki page.

Have you tried installing the lang/gcc port? There are also some more specific ports- gcc46, gcc47, gcc48, gcc49, gcc5.

This post is also about gcc.

Re: Single User Mode

Have you tried using nextboot to boot into single user mode?

Code: Select all

nextboot -D
nextboot -o "-s" -k kernel
shutdown -r now

Re: Update FreeBSD 11.0

Please see the following documentation: man freebsd-update FreeBSD Handbook Chapter 24. Updating and Upgrading FreeBSD The upshot is that freebsd-update can only be used if someone (the "FreeBSD Security Team") is building binary updates for your build of FreeBSD. I am under the impression nobody bu...
