Re: Samba on Raspi copy large files gives error 0x8007003B solution so far: don't use ExFAT or FAT32

Does anyone have a solution for this?

When uploading a 2.2 GB file to the RPi from Windows with Samba, there are 30 seconds at the beginning where nothing happens ... and only then, the copy begins (quite quickly).

Only with exFAT. The problem doesn't appear with ext4 or NTFS.

Are non-FUSE exfat drivers available in RaspiOS?

There are at least 3 exfat drivers: 1) exfat-fuse, the slowest (see https://github.com/arter97/exfat-linux): 2) linux kernel 5.4 exfat driver 3) linux kernel 5.7 exfat driver (samsung) How to use #2, #3 with RaspiOS lite? I tried: modprobe exfat or modprobe exfat-linux but without success. Are there...

Re: What's the maximum USB3 HDD write performance you get with encryption ON?

My Windows system has a Windows native system. Seems like a tautology ;) Perhaps do you mean a WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux)? The filesystem in there doesn't matter because the access to it is done by Veracrypt not by the hosting system. Are you 100% sure? I don't think so, at least on Windows ...

Re: What's the maximum USB3 HDD write performance you get with encryption ON?

That's what I use. I've got a 2GB Veracrypt file that is a portable container for the secret/confidential stuff and can be used on any Window or Linux system (including a RPi). Yes, this is very handy. Info for people who haven't used it already: So in fact with Veryacrypt containers, we have 2 fil...

Thanks @dickon @ejolson for your answer. > Is that usable with VeraCrypt on Windows? Good question, I'll check this! > You need to enable Adiantum for the best performance on the Pi. Given that this encryption method was designed to work well on ARM devices that lack built-in AES encryption, I have ...

What's the maximum USB3 HDD write performance you get with encryption ON?

Hi, I'm building a NAS with a RPi4 + official PSU (I noticed how important it is!) + USB3 HDD. Up to now, after some research and a few days, I managed to get full 110 MB/s on ethernet networking , when reading/writing with Samba from a Windows computer. This is already a good point. Now about the U...

UART problem when data is already arriving during boot

Hi, I'm using UART Rx since years, because of the project I started : http://www.samplerbox.org , to add a MIDI IN to the RaspberryPi. I wrote this guide 2 years ago. The new method: enable_uart=1 dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt dtoverlay=midi-uart0 works great :), far better than the old hack with init_u...

Re: Analogue audio testing

@jdb, is it possible to make the driver natively work as 44.1Khz? (instead of 48khz) Context: I'm the author of the project http://www.samplerbox.org (Hardware sampler based on RPi, see here ). Even with the new driver (which, by the way, is a wonderful step for audio on RPi!), the software SamplerB...

Re: Raspberry Pi based Synthesizer

As I wanted to have a "Rhodes" piano with a Pi, I tried myself SoundFonts on a RaspberryPi a few months ago (with fluidsynth, etc.), and came to the conclusion that it is impossible to have decent polyphony (more than 20 voices for example). Then I started coding my own sampler, and finall...

Re: Raspbian official image

Then, where is the official image, done by Raspbian project ? There isn't one. The official image is the one made by the Foundation, using software from Raspbian. The Raspbian people provide a software repository. They don't provide pre-built images. One reason for that is that the images contain e...

Re: Jessie ready-to-use image

Raspbian Jessie is still in Testing and the RPF will announce, like everything else when ready.
Is there a Testing Jessie image?

(instead of having to install Wheezy + then upgrade, it would be cool to have a Testing Jessie image)

Hi, There is a lot of Jessie-related topics, and I read some of them, but it's easy to get lost with them. So here are two questions: 1) Will there be an official Raspbian Jessie read-to-use image available here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ If not available soon, is there a release candida...

Sound quality on RPi2 ?

Hello, I have a RPi B and the sound quality is not so good . [I don't remember where, but I think I had read it is 12 bit or 11 bit PWM or something like that, that I don't know ;) ]. I'm about to buy a RPi2, but first I would like to know if the sound quality has been improved. My plan is to build ...
