Re: I Think My Pi is Really Dead :((
Turns out I actually got it from a third party seller on amazon. After quite a few emails of them trying to pawn the return off on anyone and me trying to convince them they are the only one that can return an item they purchased to element 14 they finally agreed to a refund. I'm kinda scared to sen...

Re: I Think My Pi is Really Dead :((
Do you have another SD card to try? Do you have a backup copy? Your card is probably corrupted. Yeah, I've got quite a few cards with different operating systems, all have the same outcome. I have also tried mostly every power supply I have including a 2A portable charger to no avail. Any idea if t...

I Think My Pi is Really Dead :((
After being on vacation for a few days, when I came home I plugged in my Pi and everything seemed normal, a few minutes went by and for the first time in probably months I got the little pixel rainbow square in the corner. Shortly after that, the same time my window air conditioner (both plugged int...

Re: Raspberry pi 2 B not booting
It could be that your Pi is just dead. I think mines dead also after a bad power supply put too much power through it and now only the red and green LED turn on so my guess is that's what happened on a dead Pi. But it could also be that none of your power adapters have enough current. Ones for phone...

Re: Openelec WiFi Failure Problems?
Are you using dhcp to assign an IP address from your router automatically? It maybe failing to negotiate an IP address from the router correctly. What shows up in dmesg on the pi when you hot plug the WiFi dongle? Check the logs on the router and consider configuring the router to set a fixed IP ad...

Openelec WiFi Failure Problems?
For some reason OpenELEC will work with my WiFi perfectly fine for days so long as I don't turn it off, then once I turn it off or restart I have to reboot like 20 times for it to finally connect to my WiFi again and not say "failure". Its annoying, reeeeaaalllyy annoying. Is there a fix f...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) Raspberry Pi 2 image
config.txt is in /boot/firmware in this build. I don't even have firmware in /boot/ 0_o Somethings wrong for sure then... I just followed the instructions for this image the other day (plus I moved my root to USB) and have been editing my config.txt file by using the command below: sudo nano /boot/...

Re: OpenGL and Blender
I downloaded blender on my Pi 2 running ubuntu 14.04 and it actually works far better than expected! As for opengl, I'm not sure about that, but I get decent render times considering the hardware being used (12 seconds to 3 minutes per frame) though I have just begun using blender a few days ago so ...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) Raspberry Pi 2 image
How do you over clock with this version? The config.txt file in /boot is empty and inin uncommenting and modifying the one in boot.bak does nothing nor does overclocking with raspi-config. Unless lsusb or inxi doesn't notice the over clock speed?

Re: Any Project Ideas for Children?
I've been helping my daughter in her quest to build a birdfeeder with a built in Raspicam that posts pictures to her Wordpress blog every time a bird comes in to grab a bite (she's the same age as your niece). You could also do projects where she could create a door buzzer (with camera), led light ...

Re: Any Project Ideas for Children?
That is amazing! I would get a Raspberry Pi 2 model B and if you are going to make a custom case with your niece you are going to need to know where the mounting wholes are so I will post the mounting hole placement later in the post. Be aware if you have made custom computer cases it is different ...

Re: Pi2 No HDMI Output
Ah yeah, wanted to make sure. Well maybe try config_hdmi_boost=7 According to elinux.org 7 is the max value. That may help but I doubt it. To be safe I'd try commenting out anything you've added and if that doesn't work I would uncomment hdmi_force_hot plug=1 Then hdmi_mode=2 Also make sure your mon...

Re: Future 3D Printed RPi board?
Actually I find the idea of millions of people owning 3D printers and then downloading common designs to run off at home quite disturbing. Imagine if all the 5 million Pi sold so far had been printed at home like that. What a huge waste of energy and resources! Didn't even consider that, but thats ...

Re: How long can a PI be left on?
I was wondering how long a Raspberry Pi can be left on? Would it eventually just burn out? Darren 24/365 for less than £4.83 per year (at current prices) until the Sun goes to a red giant and burns up the inner planets. The end of time (aka the Big Crunch) is likely to be many billions of years aft...

Re: Monitor HDMI Question
Depends on your monitor. Does your computer and monitor also have VGA or Dvi inputs and outputs? If so you could connect your of via those and pi via HDMI then your monitor will either auto display whichever input is sending signal or you'll have to manually change it. If not you could get some sort...

Re: Can't install most OS
After rereading your question, you may also be installing raspberry pi 1 OS on your Pi 2. Click the "more info" under the OS name and it will either say Raspberry pi 1, pi 2 or both. Raspian, and Ubuntu should definitely work. OpenELEC for pi 2 can be downloaded from the Openelec site, you...

Re: Can't install most OS
Sorry... Additional I fo. When using noobs hooked up to the Internet the only OS that seems to install is Raspbian. All other crash when they try to boot. The new version of NOOBs is only for raspbian. Noobs contains raspbian, and noobs lite doesn't contain any OS but allows you to download raspian...

Re: Future 3D Printed RPi board?
Silver is expensive, lead has legal issues. 3D printing is slow. So while I can see such printers being useful for prototyping or niche applications I find it highly doubtful that they will be economical for large scale production. Not thinking about mass production. More of the possibility of you ...

Re: Pi2 No HDMI Output
Are you swapping the same SD from your Pi to the Pi 2? Or do you have two separate cards? I would suggest formatting an SD card, then writing the raspbian image to the card (without noobs) and then trying. From what I've read noobs uses a different method to detect the display than the config.txt fi...
