Wheezy - No Sound?

Hi All. Sorry I know this has been covered on here before, but I have tried most things without avail. I am using the Wheezy distro and have vlc installed. I cannot however get the sound working. I have tried adding to my config.txt and updating my firmware. Can anyone suggest a fix for this please?...
