Word Clock

IMG_1713.jpg I recently found I had an old dusty PiB+ (1CPU 500MB) laying around not doing anything useful, so I decided to build a Word Clock, there seem to be loads of different ones around, but I wanted it to be reasonably small, neat and good looking. Unfortunately I don't have access to nice l...

Re: Q3lite - Quake III Arena for the Raspberry Pi

Hi John,
Yes I had done the firmware update as well, I just copied and pasted every command in order, till I finished. :-)
I strongly suspect it was caused by the fact that my Stretch was an upgrade from Jessie, not a straight Stretch installation.
Regards, Kevin.

Re: Q3lite - Quake III Arena for the Raspberry Pi

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I tried doing all of that, but still exactly the same. So I've reinstalled Raspbian from scratch and that made it work. Thanks. Now is there a way of getting the *. pk3 files from the original Openarena game that you used to be able to download from the RaspberryPi shop to...

Re: Q3lite - Quake III Arena for the Raspberry Pi

Hi, I've just tried your latest compile/install procedure as above. Everything appears to compile and install ok, however when I try to run I get an error "...WARNING: could not set the given mode (-2)" I'm using a Pi3B+ Raspbian Stretch and I used the dev branch. crash log below. tty console mode d...

Re: 9v really for LCD Driver? Re: Pi-Portable & or Monitor.

I read the manufacturer pdf states 12v for input and this really works stable at 9v? Connecting the output of the input power 9v to the dc in jack should work also, correct? Thank you for your effort in documenting this. Hi, Yes, certainly my board works fine at 9v, it even still worked at 7v, but ...

Re: SD Card permanently locked

Thanks Mahjongg, I'll have a read of the link, however one of the cards was almost new, so unlikely to be warn out. Everything was perfect on the second card until I used Win32DiskImager to read an image file, this is on a PC, not the Pi. Then as soon as I plugged it back into my Pi, it was locked. ...

Try qualifying your Google search with "site:raspberrypi.org" it's a FAQ on here.
I must be being incredibly stupid as I can't find anything similar to this problem on these forums, no FAQ either.

Kevin.

SD Card permanently locked

I recently had this problem. I have a 16Gb micro sd card, (with no external lock) which has on it Noobs with Risc OS, Raspbian, LibreElec. OK, Had a look at your card this morning and it looks like the temporary write protect bit is set on the SDCard... Don't know how that has happened but that's what it looks like! Am going to look for a method of resetting that bit and then see if I can find how it got set! Gordon Hi Gordon, Did you...

Re: HOWTO: Install Kodi on Raspbian

Hi,
Kodi now installs and works very well with no further tweaking.
It will now even play h265 (HEVC) video at up to 1080p (1920x1080) at quite a reasonable quality, even on a Pi2!
simply do :-

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kodi
Thanks to everyone involved in making this possible.
Kevin.

Hi, I don't know about the jumper, if it should be 3.3v the damage has probably already been done, try asking the company you bought it from? The green light means the M-NT68676.2A is turned on and getting a HDMI signal, it would eventually go red if there was no signal and a message would breifly b...

Hi Rascus, If it is possible, would you be able to re-build your Kodi 17.3 with the latest ffmpeg. (ffmpeg: update to ffmpeg-3.3.1-Leia-Alpha shown here https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=298461&pid=2601233#pid2601233) as this should give the latest 8 bit HEVC optimisations and from Doms comme...

Re: Kodi 15/16/17 Packages for Raspbian

Good news Rascas, It's good that your build has been noticed; appreciated and now included in the standard Raspbian repo. :-) I for one hope that you will be able to keep it maintained and working with Raspbian. I have found that h265 (HEVC) works very well at 1280x720 (720p) using almost any qualit...
