Re: In total RaspberryOS no Screen tearing

I'd like to add that the latest Manjaro KDE Plasma uses x11 compositor on the pi4 and doesn't screen-tear.

Latest Ubuntu Desktop, which uses wayland, also doesn't screen-tear on pi4.

Have you disabled compositor on PiOS? That helps with fullscreen-ed apps like vlc, chromium.

Re: Ubuntu Desktop 21.04 has fixed the screen tearing problem

Very impressive YT playback! Ubuntu 21.04 gives the user a choice of both the default Wayland, and Xorg, in case some apps don't work properly. Well played Canonical, indeed. Wonder what's next for the Foundation in terms of graphical performance on the desktop. Would Wayland or full Kms development...

Would be amazing if Ubuntu 64bit got official widevine support, since Chromium streams YouTube really well in yesterday's new Ubuntu desktop release.
Netflix etc. would take it to the next level!
Swapping sd cards between PiOS and other OSes is the way to go for drm.

TV Hat + Pi zero = usb tuner dongle for another pi 4? Or not?

Would that be possible? Would allow more than one tuner feeding into a pi4, meaning Tvheadend can use more of these tuners, meaning more than one mux can be watched and recorded at once. Sorry if been asked before. Edit: Just realized that power requirement might be too much for the pi4's usb port. ...

[Tvheadend Guide] How to find TV channels from Winter Hill transmitter in NW England.

Due to a recent change in broadcast frequencies for dvb-t television from the Winter Hill transmitter you may struggle find them in TVHeadend. When you first try to add a dvb-t network, TVHeadend provides a list of predefined muxes (multiplexes) for Winter Hill but these are out of date. Leave the &...

Still no sound for me, latest update on kit SD OS, tried all the steps in here. I made double sure HDMI is ticked... I get no audio via HDMI. For a thought, even if it is fixed at OS level for Pi OS, how about all the other OS's?? one of my televisions has always required that #hdmi_drive=2 be unch...

It times out the display after a certain time but then can't wake it up with keyboard or mouse? Screen stays blank.

Given java Minecraft 1.12.2 is recommended to be ran at lowest settings with optifine, then I wouldn't hold out much hope for 1.8.9. Since each update is more demanding than the last. Why do you need lineage os for asphalt? Why any sbc? Many android TV boxes are out there, with better hardware acceleration and compatibility with the latest android games.

Konstakang's updated lineage release has a workaround for color issues. Check the release notes

You can drop the resolution by modifying debug.drm.mode.force property in /system/build.prop. You also need to change display density as well to adapt to the smaller resolution - Settings -> Display -> Display size (or change ro.sf.lcd_density to 160 in /vendor/build.prop). => smoother gameplay now...

Thanks for the build.prop workaround. It corrects the colours in the games I've played so far. Minecraft behaves a bit differently. You can workaround this issue by disabling hw overlays. Settings -> Developer options -> Disable HW overlays or add 'hwc.drm.use_overlay_planes=0' to /system/build.prop for more permanent solution. This will of course decrease performance slightly. adding that line to build.prop doesn't make the ch...

Applying today's rpi-update and prior efforts to fix video bugs this past week appear to have helped a lot of people out. Screen tearing is probably impossible to completely stop with the new kernel.
