Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Media Center - KODI & Steam Link on top of Raspbian

Yep, you're on the right track. I would get both steam link and plex on one sd card by installing both from within a Raspbian OS image. After raspbian installed then open terminal: sudo apt update sudo apt install steamlink Youtuber Eta Prime has a great tutorial on setting up steamlink. For Plex, f...

Re: DVB-T2 tuner for TV

Kodi.
Kodi can be a tv channel backend and frontend eg. With Tvheadend server and client addons. You can navigate the tv guide, record, pause with tv remote if your tv is hdmi-cec enabled.

Re: FullHD playback on RPi4 with hardware acceleration

For smooth fullscreen 1080p30 playback: sudo raspi-config > Advanced Options > Compositor > "No" In the top right of browser, click the "h" icon. Then in h264ify settings block 60fps. Reboot and restart browser. Screen tearing only fixed in full screen, when cursor/toolbar has faded away. Dropped fr...

Can confirm that: sudo raspi-config -> Advanced Options -> Compositor -> then choosing "no" to xcompmgr composition manager fixes screen tearing on fullscreen video, at websites in Chromium browser like YouTube and BBC IPlayer. It is widely reported to work with other streaming services too. It only...

Re: TV HAT and watching UK Freeview

I haven't tried Kodi's Tvheadend server addon in a while. Have you tried Tvheadend from the Raspbian repository as the backend server? sudo apt install tvheadend Test having the aerial and tuner feeding into a Pi, with only Raspbian Lite with tvheadend (from repo) installed for now. Then on another ...

Re: Raspberry Pi TV HAT Quad Tuner and Multi standard

Agreed. Would love a surprise announcement later this year of a new TV hat, but I'm not up on speculation on what hardware is next for the Foundation. I'm guessing further forays into the world of TV tuners depends on how sales of the previous release went amongst other factors. This year's plans ha...

Re: Chromium 80 on raspbian buster

I downloaded v80 .deb directly from the official repository and everything works fine (didn't try MS teams). I would say even better performance than with raspbian v78. On v78 videos would tear a lot at 1080p, so had to run desktop at 720p 59.94Hz to view videos on YouTube. v80 handles 1080p no pro...

Re: TVHeadend cant record

Are you recording and playing from the web interface i.e. "http://<yourRaspberryTvHatIPaddress>:9981" ? and launching VLC from within Chromium Browser? Have you considered using the TV streaming capability of Kodi? Kodi can access your scanned tvheadend channels either through a separate device, or ...

Re: How to turn your Raspberry Pi into a media center

Yes, the Pi Zero W will run Kodi (LibreElec) quite well. Just make sure to use a good quality microsd card like Sandisk Ultra.
The only possible problem is that there is no wired ethernet with the Pi Zero W, so the wifi reception to it has to be strong enough to prevent video stuttering.

Re: Unable to watch YouTube videos

Dunno the situation where you live, but internet speeds could be suffering due to vast numbers of people forced to stay indoors and going online. Apart from that there could be a number of reasons. The Chromium browser doesn't do YouTube well at 60fps, especially on the Pi3. You can lock video at 30...

Been happily streaming Youtube and other video sites for months now on the pi 4 on a 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor. It's not macbook smooth, but really good nonetheless. (Screen tearing remains noticeable when there is fast horizontal movement e.g. camera panning across football pitch. Although I r...

Re: TVHeadend won't record onto attached SSD Drive.

Did you save (or click apply) in tvheadend interface after adding the new recordings destination?
Does this match exactly the mount point name?
Can you mount the ssd to a simple, short folder name and see if that works? The ef*** folder name length and hyphens may be throwing it. Then set permissions.

Re: TVHeadend won't record onto attached SSD Drive.

What file system is your ssd?
In my experience tvheadend prefers recording to linux formatted, ext4 drives rather than ntfs or fat.
Changing it solved similar prolem in past

Try installing firmware: wget http://palosaari.fi/linux/v4l-dvb/firmware/Si2168/Si2168-B40/4.0.25/dvb-demod-si2168-b40-01.fw sudo mv dvb-demod-si2168-b40-01.fw /lib/firmware sudo reboot This works on two other dvb-t2 models of Hauppauge tuners so good chance it works with yours. Otherwise, getting S...

Re: RPi4 Buster no Sound on HDMI

Raspbian buster and libreelec 9.1.002 didn't play well with my 8-year-old Logik branded tv. The sound didn't come on through hdmi, but picture did (albeit at only 720p, when tv supports 1080p) I looked at other threads and the following line brought back sound over hdmi: add "hdmi_drive=2" to /boot/...

Opentyrian? is that on the list. Got it workin really well using these instructions:

It's a port of the brilliant pc game Tyrian - a top-down scrolling 2D shooter from the mid 90s.

Enjoy!
