Re: how long is this usb cable?

I'm looking for a type A to B (not mini) cable of that kind of length (about 5cm) but I'm not finding. Does anyone know of where I might get one? I'm toying with the idea of chopping an existing one, but I know the wires inside are normally very thin and break easily when exposed. I'm connecting a P...

Try using a different GPIO pin.

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

64 Bit OS. Pi4 4GB. Wireless/Headless. X11 VNC. Screen size (Preferences-->Screen Configuration-->HDMI1-->1920 * 1080, 60Hz) I seem to have lost the ability to resize any window. I can drag them around and use the maximise/minimise but the "grab handle" does not appear when I move the mouse to the e...

Re: VNC on Buster 64-bit

[EDIT] NOTE: DO NOT use NoMachine. I am no expert on Linux and it has some very weird behaviour which has cause me no end of problems. Use X11VNC instead. From thread https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=275225&hilit=nomachine Re: Request for 64 bit raspbian. Report this post Sun ...

Post removed - not been notifed.

I posted about the 64 bit OS and having an issue with not being able to mount USB drives in the file manager and having to give my password when shutting down. It seems to have completely vanished. Any reason? Cheers.

Re: Cannot Use Custom Menu Icon

I too am really struggling with this missing icon. Fresh 64 bit install. No additions. Pi4 4GB. Wireless. update && full-upgrade. Running headless through NoMachine. "Start" icon is blank. Clicking menu settings icon points to /usr/share/lxde/images/lxde-icon.png Only way I can get anything in there...

Re: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version

I've just installed to a 64GB Sandisk and it runs ok. Pi4 4GB. Wireless. Headless. No monitor at all. Have done an update and full-upgrade. I use NoMachine as the VNC client which I'm not finding anywhere near as nice as RealVNC. My monitor is 1920 * 1200, but I used the Pi config menu to set it to ...

Well...I'm not a Linux expert and I am finding the instructions on installing a VNC server virtually impossible to follow. As usual, in the Linux world every link pointed to seems to be out of date or written for someone who actually fully understands Linux! I'm good at coding and know Windows (!) l...

There are a number of other errors.
Replace ; with : at end of if statement.
Then indent the lines of code after the if statement that need to be run if the condition is true.

Many, many thanks. Such a simple change to the filter. But it works. I tried it yesterday and have confirmed that it worked again today. Brilliant.

Re: Emails sent by my Pi keep going to Junk

As a final update. I've not had any luck with this. I've set up rules to bypass junk and marked as not junk etc. They still stubbornly refuse to go to the inbox. I've checked the email address itself with a number of "validity" testers and they all come back fine. I've logged into the sender and rec...

Re: Emails sent by my Pi keep going to Junk

PhilBr Have you tried sending an email from your recipient account back to to sender? That might persuade the spam filter that it is a 'good guy' sending you stuff. I infrequently but fairly regularly do send emails from the recipient to the sender, and indeed after your suggestion, this morning I ...

Yes, I have a rule that moves anything with that subject to a pi folder. (And always have)
Sender is in my address book and white list.
Anyway, thanks all for looking and suggestions.
Guess I'll just have to put up with it.

Ok, thanks for that. I've gone into Thunderbird and saved the email as a .eml file. In there I can see mention of antispam. But I'm blowed if I can understand it. I have a Python app that emails me once every 24 hours

I have a Python app that emails me once every 24 hours. And potentially twice more in a day when 2 temperature thresholds are reached. The subject of the email is : "Data from Pi (RETRY)". I had a very similar problem on a Pi0W running Buster. It had been running for a few years before the problem occurred. I was logging a 200kByte file once every 24 hours as part of my Python application. I tried clearing caches and rebooting to no avail. What DID work was getting a fresh SD card and...

GTK3 (1st timer) + C and complete Pi4 lockup

I have an Arduino UNO (with CANBUS shield) that is connected via USB to my PI4 (4GB , official PSU) - done this to other types of Pi many times. I'm trying out GTK3 in Geany which - although I am a 'C' programmer - I am finding GTK 'odd'. Anyway, I have a number of sliders on screen. I have just com...

Re: Large but flexible project?

Why not hand off all the I/O to something like an Arduino. A Mega maybe? You will have analogues then. Also the software controlling the I/O will be able to run more "real time" then. Pass information between the Pi and the Arduino using Serial or SPI.

Re: Disable screen saver

On Buster :

In

Code: Select all

/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
in the section

Code: Select all

[LightDM]
I put

Code: Select all

xserver-command=X -s 0 -dpms
It works for me.
