Re: Learning electronics, for smart people.

While not about designing/making your own circuits, I just released a book that's at least focussed on interfacing at a reasonable target age level. Not for the complete code/hardware newbie. https://www.packtpub.com/hardware-and-creative/raspberry-pi-essentials The book is aimed at teens and up wit...

Re: Need Advice on Max Length of GPIO Input Leads

Optical isolation is a really good choice, just make sure you don't run ground from your 'Pi past the isolation. The typical 'Pi wiring is much more complex than most realize as the power supply is (if you are using 5v USB supplies) not grounded. This makes the ESD protection complex and almost whol...

Re: vlc trouble

Type vlc -H > vlc.doc
This gives you the complete verbose documentation, just use Leafpad to search through it ..... you'll find -A in there.

PCmanFM and Menu

The new release of Raspian (2015-01-31) has me utterly confused. The Menu (start button) does not match PCmanFM's menu:// and I cannot find out how to add or move elements. I can add applications in /usr/share/applications, but can't control where they appear in the Menu. I can find no way to have P...
