AWS Greengrass lambda keeps failing after a while - RPi or GG issue?

I am running AWS Greengrass on my RPi to monitor some sensors and send the data back to AWS. I am reading measurements from an MCP3008 chip using the I2C interface. When I run a Python script natively on the RPi, it can run indefinitely. When I have Greengass run a Python Lambda on the same device (...

Re: Multiple MQ-X sensors (TTL) possible?

Thanks for the information, markkuk! I was suspicious that this was the case. As the voltage from the MQ-X is 5V, I will need a 5V-3.3V shifter circuit between the sensor and A2D circuit, correct? For a MQ-X sensor, would you think an MCP3008 would be enough, or go up to an ADS1015 or even 1115? See...

Multiple MQ-X sensors (TTL) possible?

I am working on a project and I wish to have multiple MQ-X type sensors working on a Raspberry Pi 4. I have an order of 10 different gas sensors arriving, all with both analog and digital (TTL) output. Most important are the Methane, CO and H2S sensors. It seems that the RPi has only 1 serial connec...

Re: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

So I plugged the Gert666 into a new RPi 3B and the image quality was much better than the RPi A+. Nothing else was changed. It still wasn't good enough for me (still a slight noise level), so I switched to an HDMI-to-VGA adapter instead for best quality. There must be something about the A+ giving ...

Re: PiMac Project

Couldn't get the big fan to work by attempting a PWM signal with WiringPi. I don't have any way to test that the signal was correct or anything, so I gave up. I just moved the middle fan to blow over the Pi and PSU. No overheating issues yet.

Re: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

I have just got my Gerts VGA666 plugged in and working. I initially tested on a RPi3 with very good results. When I was attempting to fit the RPi3 into my project, I accidentally fried it (it touched a live 110VAC wire... Don't ask). I then tested it on an old RPi A+ (all I have laying around). The ...

Re: Power draw spike at startup causing reboot

I solved the issue for now with two charging circuits in parallel.

However, there should be a capacitor somewhere that could power 5V ~500mA for ~200ms. I was just wondering what that particular spike was. Has anyone else encountered this spike?

But I guess I will call this issue closed for now.

Tested a Powerboost 1000 Charger in parallel with a Powerboost 500 Basic, works perfectly. Have both hooked up to a switch to power on both at the same time.

Adafruit Powerboosts in parallel, possible?

Hi, I was wondering if I could connect a Powerboost 1000 Charger in parallel with a Powerboost 500 Basic. I know it is possible to hook two Basics in parallel to provide more power to a project. Given only one circuit is charging, could this work? Would it need any extra circuitry, like diodes or an...

Power draw spike at startup causing reboot

Hi, I have a RPi2 powered by an Adafruit Powerboost 1000 Charger and a 6600mAh 3-cell Li-ion battery. Whenever I start the RPi2 on a normal 2A USB charger, I do notice a current draw spike at about 2-3 seconds after startup, causing the rainbow box to appear for a split second in the top-right corne...

Start remote Python/TK script from SSH

Hi All,

I am looking to SSH into my RPi and execute a Python script that includes Tkinter graphical elements. I want the script to display on the Adafruit 5" LCD that is attached to it through HDMI. Is this easy to achieve?

Thanks!

Weird, I already had it installed and it just started working after you posted that. I guess everything is broken until you ask how to fix it.

Correct Gstreamer1.0 commands on Linux client

Hi all, I have been busy working on my project and am stuck on an issue that should not be an issue. What is the correct Gstreamer1.0 command on the receiving end? Every single article/post/email contains a different iteration of the same wrong pipeline that no longer works. I would think this would...

Re: another R-Pi camera accessory: M12 adaptor

Since they are out of stock on that site, I bought a pair off Ebay for $4 each. Even though they are labeled "21mm for Raspberry Pi", they do not fit correctly. 1/2mm off. Plus they do not have a cutout for the little "SUNNY" ribbon.

Be warned!

Setup Raspbian on a different Pi

Question: I have a RPi2 and a RPiA+. Given the A+ only has a single USB and no ethernet, setting up a Wifi dongle had led to a dead end without a USB hub. Is it possible to setup an SD card with the needed dongle drivers and config files on my RPi2 then just pop it into my RPiA+? Would Apt-get mess ...

Re: PiHead: Mountable Wireless Live Camera w/ Extras

Update: Android App: Made an app to receive the MJPEG stream. It uses TCP packets, so the delay and stuttering is a little high, but still under 300ms. No blurry images or tearing. Will work on getting the app to automatically connect to a predefined access point (the RPi) on startup and revert back...

Re: PiHead: Mountable Wireless Live Camera w/ Extras

I have not bought any sound-related components yet, as that will be after I get the video, motion sensors and smartphone app working. Re: Problem streaming to Windows with Gstreamer SDK

I am encountering lots of lag that is dependent on resolution and framerate. At low resolutions like 400x300, I get a low latency (guessing about 200-300ms). The preview on the RPi looks normal. There is minimal distortion on the client. When I bump up the resolution to 720p or 1080p, the preview st...
