Sorry for late response. I'm using MCP3008 and PICAN board. But now only PICAN wired to the Raspberry and only see spidev.0.1 :|

SPI problem when install CAN controller driver

Hi all, I updated my raspi to 3.18.7+ last days and i also need new driver for my modules. I was waiting for PICAN board driver for pi and yesterday i uploaded it. Before uploaded; ls -al /dev/spi* crw-rw---T 1 root spi 153, 1 Jan 1 1970 /dev/spidev0.0 crw-rw---T 1 root spi 153, 1 Jan 1 1970 /dev/sp...

Re: using 2 devices on 1 spi bus

... There is no spidev0.1 driver in the related folder. How can i add? I'm afraid I have no idea. I have never known one appear without the other. You really ought to start a new thread with a title showing your specific problem. It is more likely to attract the people who would know. I'll try this...

spidev0.1 problem

Hi all, I want to use two devices(MCP3008&PICAN CAN-Bus board) to communicate SPI with raspberry pi. These devices work with no problems separately. When i wired both of them, MCP251x probe failed. I guess it is a spi problem. CE0 uses with MPC3008 and CE1 uses with PICAN. But no spidev0.1 drive...

Re: using 2 devices on 1 spi bus

I just assumed the OP was in Japan, so was directed to a Japanese mirror. Possible, but I'd be surprised if Collabara, Raspbian, Wolfram, and Pi Towers had all chosen the same company to mirror with in one country when they haven't over here. I'd assumed it was the IP address of the mirror of the R...

Re: using 2 devices on 1 spi bus

I don't think I've ever seen /dev/spi.0 rather than /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev0.1. Was that a typo? Your system is slightly out of date but that should not have caused //dev/spidev0.1 to be missing. If you do update to a more recent kernel you will then be using device tree so will need to add ...

Re: using 2 devices on 1 spi bus

It would probably have been better to start a new post. What does uname -a report? What does cat /etc/os-release report? Hi Joan, Sorry , If it is more beneficial, i will start a new post. I found this post similiar to my problem. Reports; uname -a Linux raspberrypi 3.12.35+ #730 PREEMPT Fri Dec 19...

Re: using 2 devices on 1 spi bus

Hi all,

I want to use raspberry pi with 2 devices which work on 1 spi bus but when i type

Code: Select all

ls -al /dev/spi*
crw-rw---T 1 root spi 153, 0 Jan 1 1970 /dev/spi0.0
There is no spi0.1 file in dev folder. How can i add spi0.1 device? I want to use MCP3008 and PICAN CAN-Bus module.

Thanks,

Re: CAN controller

hi guyvz, if the lsmod shows the same as before, and the dmesg is right: try to find out where candump is (whereis candump). go to that directory: cd /your/directory. check again on the permission of that file : $ls -al. if there are no x permissions: sudo chmod 777 candump if there are the x permi...
