Re: WWhat is "...the sticky posts "

I did try Sticky Post but only "how to's" came up. Still no harm in asking the Forum is there ? There was, and is, no harm whatsoever in asking on the forum :) - welcome to Raspberry Pi forums my friend, and I hope your stay here is helpful, educating and edifying. Do not allow the cynical, bitter ...

Re: WWhat is "...the sticky posts "

I see in the Post for new members that the text appears "please read the sticky posts in beginners" What is a "sticky post"? This whole thread could have been avoided by the simple use of google by Bargepole..... Searching for "Forum sticky", First hit is Answers.com which has this to say ..... A "...

Re: WWhat is "...the sticky posts "

Personally, I find that the term "sticky posts" doesn't in any way, bring to mind the real-world "Post it" notes, upon which it is evidently supposed to be based. As with most things in the digital realm, you'll find that it's a term or idea which was thought up by a small group or an individual, wa...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Hi all, Just fired up my Pi2 and checked the Revision number. Got: a21041, I was expecting 0013. Is this the official revision number or an error? EDIT: Just found this information http://wiringpi.com/wiringpi-updated-for-the-new-pi-v2/ regards Greg Shhhh! You've accidentally been sent a Pi 3 proto...

Re: PoE

Thing is, that although some of you want PoE very, very much, you're in quite a small minority. Adding it would mean taxing all the other users who *don't* need PoE; and we have to cost engineer the Pi very hard, so that's unacceptable. Still, all is not lost! You can add PoE yourself. There are pl...

Re: pi 2 what software changes to get fsf approval?

Because the firmware is changeable, its regard as software by the FSF, so the make the board FSF compliant we would need to make the firmware non-upgradeable. So, in effect, in order to be Free, we would need to reduce functionality. Well done FSF. Make life worse for 4.49M people so 0.01M people c...

I've just called Stallman, and he'll be along in a month or six to 'explain' the 'evils' of 'prah-pryatary softweeeaaaaarr' (spoken in his NY accent). Oh please... for RMS to be totally satisfied, and ethically correct, he'd have to personally monitor the sourcing and production of EVERY SINGLE chem...

Re: valentine present

The folks who bother with Valentines should be using it to profess their love for one another and not using it as an excuse to buy funky tech that they want using the excuse that it's a Valentine's gift. I'm sure there's lots of young ladies who'd love a Pi but not on the day when they're supposed ...

Re: windows 10 IoT is not Windows 10 Full Fat Desktop

I'm going to break free from nested quote mess - here's my reply, fruitoftheloom: Yes, indeed. As for saying that Windows 10 is not a full OS... well it's a system, and it will be operating (if I'm being at pedantic level), and besides - Windows 10 is a few months away from being finished yet, so th...

The thing is, guys, whoever wants Linux will use Linux, but in equal measure, whoever wants Windows (ie, lots of people, believe it or not) may also use Windows. I'm not sure there's any reason to "persuade" people to use your favourite platform just for the sake of moving them away from the one th...

The scary thing is that if anyone runs Win 10 on Pi2 they will be infected by MS mindworms and reduced to a Linux-hating gibbering wreck. The Evil empire is out to get us by giving stuff away and letting makers use a slick IDE. Run for your lives! LOL. Sadly, your comment will be taken liter...

Wait a minute. We are definitely not here to discuss Bill Gates. That is way off topic. This is about Microsoft, a corporation, and the pros and cons of having them involved in the Pi scene. Exploration of the corporate motive is in order given the dichotomy of a for profit corporation and a charit...

Re: What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

Bill Gates is a wonderful, insightful and extremely caring, genuine and lovely person, Aw, that's so sweet. True love. It's nice to be nice, and to speak well of people and lift them up. It's a good thing to admire the good in people, not too good to be cynical. We all have our unavoidable faults, ...
