cannot play video using c++ and openCV

Good Day everyone I am currently working on a project that deals with video. I use OpenCV as my library and C++ as the language. In WINDOWS, I can create a program using both OpenCV and C++ that plays videos . However, my project requires me to use raspberry pi. I use cmake to compile and build my c...

Re: Vehicle speed and license plate monitoring

A camera alone is very difficult to use as a speed detector. Pitfalls include: no ground distance reference, no set reference point on vehicle (a low reference point will appear to move slower than a high one: sports car vs humvee), the RaspiCam uses rolling shutter (not all parts of the image are ...

Vehicle speed and license plate monitoring

Greetings. I am currently developing a project that captures vehicle speed along with its license plate. Hardware: * Raspberry Pi B+ * RaspiCam (tentative) or commercial CCTV surveillance cameras (tentative) Software: * Raspbian OS * C++ or Python * OpenCV (image processing/computer vision library) ...

Re: Rpi Cam for vehicle speed and license plate detection

There is a risk of rolling shutter distortion. Fast shutter speeds don't help with that. The faster frame rate modes might help reduce rolling shutter effects. 6by9 or jamesh may be able to confirm that. Movement across the sensor between frames is the critical factor for rolling shutter distortion...

Re: Rpi Cam for vehicle speed and license plate detection

Hi all, I'm working on the same thing as part of a security camera project (one of the cameras needs to monitor the gate and be able to pick up cars' licence plate). In order to get any decent results I had to add a custom 8mm lens I got from http://www.m12lenses.com (other places might be cheaper)...

Rpi Cam for vehicle speed and license plate detection

Good day Everyone! I am currently developing a project that uses a raspberry pi b+ along connected to a camera. the device will be mounted on an elevated area and the camera will be pointed at the road. I was wondering if the Raspberry camera is capable of capturing the license plates of the incomin...
