Downloading Software

I may want to download additional modules or software for the Pi but I have no way of connecting it to the internet. I could take a flash drive to the library and download the software but I am not sure how to get it installed in the Pi. Can I just double click on the file in the flash drive or use ...

Playing MP3 files on Pi

How can I make Raspberry Pi play music MP3 files I think I need to download additional software. Can I download it on a laptop and then load it into the Raspberry Pi from a flash drive without connecting the Pi to the Internet?

starting Pi with button after shutdown

I am operating Pi as headless and have a button connected to the GPIO interface that shuts the computer down when pressed. Is there a way to get the computer to re-start using a button instead of turning the power supply off and then on again?

How do I implement a Linux shutdown -h now command from pyth

I am trying to safely shutdown Pi using a button signal through the GPIO. When I include the command "shutdown -h now" in the python script it either gives me a syntax error or says that "shutdown" is not defined. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it. A sample of the Code is attached: .[import...

Question on Reset Header

I have problems with some of the terminology used. I understand that on later modules of Raspberry Pi there is a reset header where a button can be connected for activation. Is the reset a "shutdown" or a "reboot" or something else. I hope that it is a "shutdown" that will safely shutdown when the P...

Re: Running Multiple Python Files from One Command Line

As you probably suspect I have no experience programming in code. How would I modify the "init... " to at 2 or more command lines to run at boot with each for a separate file and have Pi so it will shutdown properly but not erase the files that run with boot. Once I set this up I want to be able to ...

Re: Running Multiple Python Files from One Command Line

I want to run these scripts to control the GPIO and to have the Pi boot up running the scripts without a mouse, keyboard, and monitor attached. No graphics Will I have a problem when I unplug the power supply without using "shutdown? I assume that I do not want to set up the Pi to boot in the Window...

Running Multiple Python Files from One Command Line

I want to run 2 or more python files from one command line. I can run 2 files but I have to open the LX Terminal twice and write each command line separately in each terminal and execute each separately. Ultimately I want to make the Pi boot up running 2 or more scripts from separate files.

Re: Scripts for Python GPIO

The script that you sent does the following: Pin 25 will cycle on and off with 5 seconds on and 1 second off. This is what I want. Pin 24 will only produce the output pattern when input pin 23 goes high during the time that output pin 25 is low. I want it to detect an input on pin 23 and produce the...
