No changes being saved permanently to the sd card.

Hello, I am unsure whether or not this is a pi problem. But I don't want to risk my setup, or format blindly, so I thought I'd ask here. I have a Pi 2 B+, used mainly as small headless fileserver, always on. Since the time I updated the packages around a week ago, I had this problem with my pi. I no...

Samba not starting - was working in wheezy

So, I have a raspberry pi 2. I just moved to Jessie with a clean reinstall, and I reinstalled samba, in order to use the pi as a fileserver for various windows computers. This is my smb.conf #======================= Global Settings ======================= [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP server string...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

Why? I have an entirely 100baseT network at home, plus some wireless that deals with at least 3 tablets and two PC's and a couple of TV's, all streaming at the same time. If you really need more bandwidth for any one of those particular use cases you quote, just buy another Pi to take spread the lo...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

I also noted the Users Manual states "This product shall only be connected to an external power supply rated at 5V dc, and a maximum current of 1500 – 2000 mA". Elsewhere I have seen mention of 2.5A supply. Can someone clarify the power requirements / limits. Is the micro USB power connector even r...

Re: Samba Performance

Well, I have a Pi B+ (considering now buying a Pi2...), and have an external USB HDD attached to my pi. Transfers between the external HDD and another pc over LAN reaches 4 MB/s speed with Samba. That's quite bad when transferring big files. I also use my pi as a fileserver for the home network so.....

Pi and external Hard disk - not the usual power question

Hello, new user here, just got my Pi and I'm running into problems. This is not the usual "you need a powered USB Hub" problem. I'm a new user, still starting out and inexperienced, so I apologize if I'm asking something silly. But I am beginning to suspect my powered usb hub is defective, so I have...
