I remove mine from the Hub and had not issues. I think you need a good USB hub not a cheap one for 24/7 use. like 15 quid ones

fixed it now i think plugging it in to a USB hub does not help. since this i have had it running for 90 days with out a problem :D

just need to do a bit of soldering to get the power from another source and not the Pi

Im currently usaing php designer 8 but the SFTP Does not work with proftpd in sftp mod so i need one that does. as i have to use filezilla atm to keep uploading the files

Some times get input output error for my mounted HDD

Any one know why. im using ext4 and my portable HDD is pluged stright in to the pi with power coming from a 5v power supply that the Pi also uses. the PSU can give out 4Amps so its more than enough power.

yeah i have tested them there about 5.02volts and the 4A power supply gives out 5.25volts can't be the hub as it worked fine in debian, just debian is resource heavy so i swtiched to arch. I did this because I wanted to have as much ram possible for my pi as i will use it as Nas for backups, streami...

I put up eth0 and then after time its goes to down dont know why really annoying as im running it headless next to my routor have to keep moving it to my desktop to use screen +ethernet :(

try webmin. going to try it out my self soon and you cant disable USB ports but you could unmount if there HDD or somthing with storage

I tested the plug with a volt meter and i got 5.125v and i think its regulated. i got it for £14 (LINK) i hope it works well for my pi

ok i understand now. so a 4AMP will not make my phone charge any fast than a normal 1AMP does. and wont make the phone blow up if i use a 4AMP supply

so how can i limit the amps going to the phone/routor/pi/HDD so it does not get all the 4Amps and only 1Amp or am i wrong a resisters are not needed? and im thinking of over volting?
