Advice requested: Docker, Django and JuPyter

Hi there everyone, I'm a university mechanics teacher, I'd like to build a resource website for my students to help them understand mechanics faster. The reason I'm doing this is that I'm not really happy with the way the Hibbeler book is written, and because I think the use of the digital world cou...

Pi for Bachelor Offshore Engineering Students

Hi there, I'm a lecturer offshore engineering from the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, and a pi enthousiast. Last week me an me colleagues got into the discussion that we would possibly integrate a SBC in our education from years 1 to 3. I myself am an advocate for the Pi since I really lo...

PiVPN: Can't connect to pi from work?

Hi there, I have a very weird problem. On my raspberry pi i have installed openvpn using pivpn. I've set up an tcp connection over port 80. I can connect perfectly to the pi when i'm not at work (e.g. on the road, in a coffee shop). But when I try to establish a connection at work it always fails. I...

Re: port routing problems

Re: port routing problems

Hi there,

Thanx for the reply! The problem was, that even after a reboot the port stayed the same, i could not change that.

Could it possibly have anything to do with iptables-presistent ?

Thanx!

Yes it worked! Thank you both! I never realized that root indeed had a different home directory. I knew it in theory but not in practice.

Thanx for the help!

Re: cron isn't performing tasks that require sudo

Hi there thanx for the reply! Hmm weird, the non-sudo backup crons I have created do work with ~, does the super user of cron have a different set of rules? Additionally, i’ve removed my pi account, it’s okay to assume that your posted solution also works for the user account i’m using? Or does this...

Re: OpenVPN will not connect

YESS I got it working! Thanx for the help! Apparently openvpn decides to open all vpn services at boot. So it opened PIA and PIVPN. This changed my Pi's ip address rendering it unable to connect. My solution was to nano to /etc/default default, uncomment AUTOSTART='ALL' and replacing 'ALL' with logi...

Re: OpenVPN will not connect

Bonjour again! I've disabled ufw and fail2ban, unfortunatly there is no effect. I've also tried to check if the port is using nc but didn't manage to get any output. nc -u 192.168.2.100 1194 I've also checked if my home's IP has changed, that wasn't the case. Rebooting my router also didn't solve it...

Hi there,

As far as I can remember I did not edit anything there. Reflashing seems a bit extreme at this point still. I'm gonna continue to research this. There has to be a more simple and elegant solution. Help is greatly appreciated tough :)

Smart move! This means the problem is definitely in the local pi: ssh -vv *****@localhost Raspbian-10+deb9u3, OpenSSL 1.0.2l 25 May 2017 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 19: Applying options for * /etc/ssh/ssh_config: line 56: Bad configuration ...

Okay there is something weird going on. the 192.168.10.X addresses are resulting from a connection trough a wireless hotspot, that is weird isnt is ? Re: Cant connect to transmission daemon over vpn anymore

I think the problem boils down to that my rpi used to see my external connection vpn as a local connection, but doesn't see it as a local connection anymore and therefore blocks the connection.

Is this of any help?

Cant connect to transmission daemon over vpn anymore

Hi there, Since yesterday i'm getting some strange problems. I think this has to do with my VPN connection. I tried to fiddle with it so i could stop individual vpn services (I have pivpn and PIA and like to switch on/off pia without touching pivpn). I however don't know if this is relevant. I did s...
