Re: Help with PCM5102 DAC

Hi Helldr, I have got the exact same board working on my pizero. The notes I made and kept can be of help to you and others in the community. If you make the same connections, you should get it to work. If the driver/software side is suspected, I would advise to use picoreplayer as small and proven ...

Re: Controlling a RE.99.R1NC relay

I have a bunch of these and was wondering if I can use the GPIO to control some of my lab equipment. It's got a handy RJ-45 port for control with 4 pins inside so easy to patch in. This is the device I'm talking about; http://www.rfi-engineering.com/downloads/RE.99.R1NC.pdf It's got one of these in...

Re: Analogue audio testing

Hi Zipplet, After testing with a B+ I reused that device with a regular DAC. However I still have a spare pi zero, and wanted to build a super minimal player from this. Can you share the filter circuit you created to pull the analogue sound out of the GPIO and how you build that ? If it is not to em...

Re: Analogue audio testing

It seems I can hear the distortion at 100% output also when I am using a higher impedance load. So a amplifier i.s.o. direct to headphones. The sources I used at first did not reveal this. But it is obvious in the lower frequencies. I am using clean commercial CD rips without lossy compression. Limit...

Re: Analogue audio testing

vcgencmd version will give you the firmware build date and revision. Note that this is different from the hash you use for specific rpi-update versions, but the date string in vcgencmd version can be cross-referenced. I've implemented signed saturating arithmetic for the noise shaping, which preven...

Re: Analogue audio testing

Hi JDB, Many thanks for the updates in the firmware. Audio is improved so much I am now enjoying the standard analogue output over big speakers in my living room. For my tests I use a picoreplayer 2.04 setup with manually updated start.elf and only the audio_pwm_mode=2 switch. I've had no stability ...

Raspberry Pi Zero driven from Lithium ion directly

The lowest PSU voltage that the my Pi Zero reliably boots from is 2.9V After reading a lot of warnings on bad USB power supplies over the years, and then this thread , I was confused on the real power needs of the pi . Specifically the pizero. But if daveake and others can run the pi from 3 volts m...

You are probably right ;-)
But that is outside my skill set.
So when you feel up to it , and think it is valuable to your project, let me know.

Re: Analogue audio testing

@jdb, I assume your improved audio output driver is also applicable to Pizero Audio output over GPIO.? But I have not seen any testers with a pizero jet. So can I help on that part ? @GTR2Fan, If you design an analogue add-on filter ,can you also look into connecting it via the GPIO ? I reckon it is...

Re: Sonos replacement questions

Hi ward0

If you are a beginner , take a look at the picoreplayer project too.
It is a neat set to quickly boot your Pi and have the audio setup to work with the Logitec Media Server.

Re: Need some dimensions for RPi Zero

Hi Bob808 May I suggest you to consider to add the audio output to your design? As your board does already take the Composite Video, you can recreate the B+ A+ and 2B combined analogue port. The a look here : https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-zero/audio-outputs. Further I would...

I am still shopping for a decent shell. but it is a niche market and not updated for the n...

Re: Looking for a case for Pi with Wolfson sound card

I I have got the Pi B working using the Wolfson card and "Squeezeplug" software that bundles the various drivers and Squeezelite client for Linux together. The problem I have now is that I bought the B+ and new Wolfson / Cirrus Logic card to make a second player, but the Squeezeplug bundle doesn't ...

Hi Royleith,

As a suggestion: you can share your work by mentioning it on the product forum of Element 14.
More Cirrus Logic Audio Card specific stuff is discussed there.

Re: Wolfson audio card install and worth

In the meantime while we are waiting or the 3.18 kernel from Cirrus Logic you can try this -> https://blog.georgmill.de/2015/02/18/update-for-wolfson-audio-card-on-raspberry-pi/ There you get some instructions how to install a 3.12 kernel with support for hard realtime and the Wolfson/Cirrus Logic ...

Hi PeterO,
The Clac can record from Analogue, so it is a ADC
The others seem to be DAC only.

Re: SqueezePlug for Raspberry Pi version 7.50

Hi Ronnie The people at Cirrus / Wolfson are working to get their drivers into the regular Debian Wheezy stream. But currently it is either to patch your own kernel ( 3.10 and 3.12 ) or to use the provided and complete 3.12 image. This is working for me, but I miss the luxury of Thomas his time and ...

Re: SqueezePlug for Raspberry Pi version 7.50

I have had a few tries with squeezeplug 7.5 on my B+, at first all with the onboard audio, and I had no issues. However now my Cirrus Logic ( Wolfson ) cards arrived I am not able to get it working with squeezeplug. Sure I had to uninstall and re-install squeezelite to get the wolfson options availa...
