Re: New RISC OS SD card image

Can you please point me in the right direction - where can I find an RC12 image for the Pi if not on this website? There is the beta download from here https://www.riscosopen.org/content/downloads/other-zipfiles and As Steve says the release version is only available by purchasing the SD card for t...

Re: PiGlow and BBC Basic

May I suggest adding some notes explaining the hex codes, some people may want to see how you use the I2C but not have either a PiGlow or looked at the Python script.

Thank you for posting your code though.

Re: Programmer wanted - Networked Pi's, Serial output

Haven't a clue how much time would it take ? M This type of project normally has two ways of working out pay. 1. An agreed per hour rate, with a defined end time, agreeable to both parties. 2. A fixed project price, with a defined end time, ditto. Whichever way is agreed, make sure that you provide...

Re: Porting Apps to RISC OS

Just a thought meandering through my mind.

If large size compiles were needed, wouldn't it be quicker to compile them in something like VirtualRISC which would then use the full processing power of the platform CPU and RAM?

Is your mouse solely two buttons or does it have a thumb wheel as well? If it has a thumbwheel this is your middle button on a Pi, just press it.

Re: RISC OS included in OS types reviewed in Linux Format

The PI is many times faster than a PIC surely - so why tag on unnecessary silicon like a PIC? Actually this is somehting I am considering doing and I'm not a Linux user :) I'm making a voltage and current logger for work, I think it would be easier to use the PIC to make an auto read six channel in...

A minor request :)

When posts here point to a corresponding post on the ROOL forum, it would be nice if the link to the ROOL post, was, well, mentioned in the post here :?

Failing that, a reference to the topic header in the ROOL forum would be helpful.

Just pondering out loud, I thought the Pi has to boot from SD card, although everything else can be on external media, or am I just confused?

VGA doesn't have any capability for sound, unless someone has used the I2C and RES pins as a sound connection.

Re: Has anyone [*] actually gotten this to work?

Hi all, I've tried flashing the Plan 9 image to both cards. I've done so on an IntHell Mac with the Mac visual client, as well as the basic Unix commands (which I understand quite well, with a long history in Unix). Thanks -- Ian Not much help here as I use Win32DiskImager in Windows, however I do ...

On the current image (the one on the Pi download link) the package manager is on the desktop by default.

It isn't exactly 'C' more like a hybrid of C/Pascal but there is Charm, which I'm about to start playing with.
It is pre-installed in the RISCOS image.

That worked fine thanks, the only extra thing I had to do was unprotect the file for writing purposes. Just one addition to the path file you gave, ...

Thank you microbitsuk, I'll give that a try tonight.

I see we are in the same country though 8 hours apart by plane. I guess we are also from the same country as well, if your user name is anything to go by.

Lapdock screen settings - info

After much nashing of the teeth and help from others on this forum, here are the settings I've found to be the best at the moment when using a Motorola Bionic Lapdock which has a native screen resolution of 1366 * 768 (11.5"). Set monitor to HansG 171D Set colours to 16M Set Resolution to 1280 * 720...

Right - I changed SDFS::RISCOSpi.$.!Boot.Choices.Boot.PreDesk.Configure.Monitor so that the last line reads: WimpMode X1280 Y720 C16M F76 and now I can actually see what I'm doing. I tried to do this for my Lapdock, the file has my amendments in it (WimpMode X1366 Y768 C16M F60 , but RISCOS still d...

I think there is some sort of timing problem. I find that sometimes the trackpad and keyboard work and then suddenly they stop, mainly the trackpad followed by the keyboard soon after. So I think the intermittent nature is the Pi host losing packets which could also account for the combination somet...

Now to persuade the system to display nicely on a 32'' TV!
