Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.14

vc4-hdmi isn't a default option in that menu. Did you enable the experimental vc4 graphics driver? Indeed, I enabled it so I can play Need For Speed II Special Edition . :D But I think it was there before I enabled the experimental driver. I'm just not sure... Anyway, there should be some feedback ...

Can you explain exactly what you mean by the audio applet menu? Where is this menu, what did it used to do and how has it changed?

This is the sound applet menu, and clicking vc4-hdmi has absolutely no effect, other than closing the menu.

Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.14

Thanks for your reply. I won't add the same information here, but rather the link to my comment on the blog post about MagPi 68. The on thing that is new and doesn't seem to work is the vc4-hdmi entry in the audio applet menu, which doesn't seem to do anything if you click on it. Can anyone confirm ...

Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.14

Will we get a blog article about the new kernel? Is there anything notable about it? Any improvements, RAM usage differences, support for new devices, etc.

Re: Composite output issue

The composite audio/video output works great on an LCD TV, so the blame is my video capture device and/or its driver. :) While the video could be better (though it's nearly pixel-perfect), the audio is much better than I expected - no issues at all.

Merry Christmas! :D

Re: Composite output issue

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I didn't get to test it today so I'll just add a few more details. I bought the composite cable mostly for travel purposes, in case I find myself in a place with RCA inputs only. But having the Pi's display on my PC (in a window) is quite useful, regardless of the ...

Composite output issue

I recently bought a composite cable so I can see the output of my Raspberry Pi 3 on my PC, with VLC, and this is what I see: vlcsnap-2017-12-21-20h58m53s568.jpg The question is: what do I blame for the image quality issues? 1. The Pi's composite output? 2. The composite cable? 3. The USB capture dev...

Re: 1A battery as UPS

As much as I enjoy the info posted in this thread, my main concern remains unanswered. :D Q: Considering the Recommended PSU current capacity of 1.2A indicated for the Raspberry Pi Zero W , would it be safe to have it powered by a 1A LiPo battery capable of max. 8WH? I don't want to damage the Pi by...

Re: 1A battery as UPS

Thanks for your suggestions, they're great and I will probably use both in the future. But as I already have this battery at hand, before I start testing I'd just like to know if it's safe to power the Pi Zero W. I won't use HDMI either, so I will only plug the power cable and have a Raspbian Lite i...

Re: 1A battery as UPS

Thanks for your replies! :) @ broe23 : As this Pi0W rarely has to write on the microSD card, I'm less worried about having it shutdown properly before it runs out of power completely. So when the power comes back, I assume the battery will start the Pi back up. I'd have to test this anyway, but my f...

1A battery as UPS

Hey everyone! :) I want to use a rechargeable battery as a UPS for a VPN server based on Raspberry Pi Zero W. The first thing I checked was the Power Requirements , and the battery I'd like to use outputs 5V, 1A - just under the recommended PSU current capacity. However, I don't need any interfaces ...

Debian 9 Stretch announced, Raspbian's future

Great news! :D The release date of Debian 9 "Stretch" has been announced for June 17, and Release Candidate 4 is available for testing. Debian 9 comes with kernel 4.9, which means we will get some exciting new stuff by default: - a fully open Raspberry Pi 3D driver stack - better HDMI hotplug detect...

Edimax EW-7611ULB on Raspberry Pi

Hey, everyone! I just ordered an Edimax EW-7611ULB wifi dongle for its bluetooth capability. It looks like the successor of Edimax EW-7811Un , although the wifi chip is different and it requires manual drivers installation. Edimax was kind enough to write this guide: How to install EW-7611ULB adapte...

Re: Can mysql/apache handle 30K records

when I import the data the webserver wont display anything 1. make sure you closely followed the install instructions of the scripts you use; 2. use phpMyAdmin or even better, Adminer , to import and check your database's contents afterwards; 3. configure the Apache LogLevel to "info" at least temp...
