Re: Later Kernels

I haven't done what you are asking, but maybe some of the Raspbian-specific info here can help: http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/linux/kernel/building.md Combined with the Fedora-specific kernel building procedures: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel Best regards, ---Kay...

Re: WPA2 Network Connection

Ah. I see. Like tedslius said above, you can use the NetworkManager command-line interface to do what you want.

Read my post: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 51&t=95464 and look specifically at the Wireless Setup section.

Re: WPA2 Network Connection

Are you sure you don't have something like a MAC address whitelist going on?

My Pidora connects just fine to my WPA2 personal setup.

Re: CUPS printer website 404?

For the future, without having to add a display, you can also use "nc" or "netcat" to do some fun things: Supposing that your raspberry Pi is sitting at address AA.BB.CC.DD. From your other system/laptop: ncat --sh-exec "ssh [email protected].BB.CC.DD ncat 127.0.0.1 631" --keep-open -l 8080 Then you can brows...

Latest Webmin: Easy Install in Pidora 2014

Installing Webmin RPM (for web based system administration) on Pidora in a few easy steps I tried to install the webmin RPM (seeing as it was a perl based architecture independent package): # wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.730-1.noarch.rpm # wget http://www.webmin.com/jca...

SSH with 2-step authentication via google-authenticator

A day after setting up and placing my RPi on the net (via port-forwarding using the uVerse gateway), I am seeing messages like this when logging into the server: Last failed login: Fri Jan 2 10:56:51 PST 2015 from 122.225.97.77 on ssh:notty There were 876 failed login attempts since the last success...

Creating a headless Pidora with WiFi only

After playing around with it for a bit, I created this guide about how I set up my Pidora system as a fast-booting ssh server that runs on Wi-Fi (no ethernet, no keyboard, no monitor/TV). Updated version is always here: https://github.com/ksylvan/RaspberryPiSetup/blob/master/README.md I have a quest...

Re: Headless mode with WiFi only

Interestingly, I didn't have to do anything with the wpa_supplicant/d-bus file. Once I have everything working with /boot/headless, I did this: Ensured the sshd daemon is enabled first. Then, [[email protected] ~]# rm /boot/headless rm: remove regular file ‘/boot/headless’? y [[email protected] ~]# [[email protected]...

Re: permanently disable NetworkManager

In addition to the "systemctl isolate" commands, you might want to do the set-default:

Code: Select all

 systemctl set-default multi-user.target
This makes the system default to the non-graphical startup.

Re: How to find the current IP address?

Totally agree about the vote up/down feature. Another option is to run "pifconfig eth0" or "pifconfig wlan0". [ [email protected] ~]# pifconfig eth0 eth0 HWaddr b8:27:eb:a2:3a:fe inet addr:192.168.1.136 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: 2602:306:309a:96f0:ba27:ebff:fea2:3afe/64 Scope: glo...

Re: How to get an application to start on boot in Pidora?

Everything you need to know about systemd is here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Systemd

If the application has its own systemd/sysv startup file, it's easy. Otherwise, you might need to create one.

Re: Headless mode with WiFi only

Thank you for your post. This saved me a ton of time, I'm sure.

Do you have any idea why removing the "-u" flag makes the difference for connecting to wireless when there is a wired ethernet plugged in versus when it's not present?

Re: Super Simple Pidora Quick Start Guide

Thanks for the post. ifconfig *is* available in Pidora without installing net-tools, it's just named "pifconfig" At first I though it was named like that as some sort of nod to the "pi" (Pidora, pifconfig, etc.) but it's actually part of the python-ethtool pacakge: [[email protected] boot]# rpm -qf /usr/s...
