Re: Fresh SD Card, install smbus + i2c-tools, wont boot

it is a non-NOOBs install (Rasbain Jessie).

Can you explain to me why I would need to expand the filesystem?

I will attempt tomorrow!

Fresh SD Card, install smbus + i2c-tools, wont boot

Hi all, I have recently pulled out the pi and tried a refresh (fresh rasbian install), and then install python, then I go to install i2c-tools and smbus (which are also activated in raspi-config on startup). after I install i2c-tools and smbus, I am unable to boot back up. It does not shut down, I c...

Right click touchscreen??

How would I emulate a right click on the touchscreen in Raspbian? Basically, if I hold down on the resistive screen for 2 seconds, It would show me the 'right mouse click' response.

I am using an eGalax touchscreen in Raspbian...

Capacitors

I have been reading up on capacitors and I think they may be a good inclusion into my 8 channel thermistor ADC unit... My question is - where should I put them? My reading from the 8 channels is every 5-10 seconds... would I require the decoupling capacitors between my analog input-ground or between...

you mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV8P-KnGXGg ( found here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=82188 ) maybe your touch screen "stress" the GPIO in the same way, that you RPi is rebooting after sudo poweroff BTW: is there a different between the both? sudo power...

Re: Pi reboots on shutdown

I am trying 'sudo shutdown -h -P' and its saying I need to be rooted... does sudo not imply root privleges?

EDIT: didn't put 'now' .... Nevertheless, still rebooting after shutdown.

Re: Pi reboots on shutdown

Yeah - I had tried both GUI shutdown and also the terminal codes (ie: sudo shutdown, sudo halt, etc).

If I had a second Linux box I would do that :( ...is there is another way or updated kernels somewhere online to fix this problem?

Pi reboots on shutdown

Hi All, I currently install the kernels to make my eGalax Touchscreen work (I found someone posted kernels online for this and it saved me at least 8+hrs of compiling!!). However, since installing, whenever I go to shutdown the Pi restarts as soon as it is shutdown... and I have tried shutting down ...

Frig. I am an uber idiot. I will start from the beginning. I figured if I just did as stipulated after Raspberry Pi I would be O.K..... Boy am I wrong.

Tontec touchscreen help!!!

Hi all, I have followed the directions as posted here: http://engineering-diy.blogspot.ca/2013/01/adding-7inch-display-with-touchscreen.html However... This step is not working for me: After this step you should run xinput_calibrator(from Xserver terminal console: first startx then open console and ...

I2C and SPI at same time?

I have yet to find the answer to this.... Would I be able to use I2C and SPI communication on the Pi simultaneously? Reason: I have a DeltaSigmaPi (https://www.abelectronics.co.uk/products/3/Raspberry-Pi/14/Delta-Sigma-Pi) which works of I2C and am looking into a Pi TFT screen which works over SPI.....

Re: DIN Connector

Why wont a 6 pin female connector work? If I am correct, the placement of the 5 pins are the same (60Deg apart) and therefore the center pin will be inactive... I do not need the center pin, nor do my male cables have them...

Yeah I look at them but they will charge me an arm and a leg for shipping... Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative? Perhaps a store (or retail chain) where I might be able to find these DIN connectors? Thanks

Re: DIN Connector

That is what I figured (5-PIN @ 240 Deg). Need clarification....

Unfortunately I live in Canada so the options posted do not work for me... I tried searching for a 5-PIN 240Deg socket but have had no luck... would I be able to use a 6-PIN 240Deg instead?

Offline recording would be the best ... having it project info to a cloud would be a nice feature, but would much local acquisition of data, therefore not limiting my areas of use.

Re: DAQ software

Thanks experix, I will look into it. I will be using the GPIO bus to connect the ADC and the analog signals (thermistors most likely) will be connected to it. In the end I would like to have a graph for each separate thermistor and recording data every 5 seconds or so to a csv or text file. With thi...

DAQ software

Hi, I am wondering if there is any linux software where I can display realtime analog sensor readings from the RPi using the Delta Sigma Pi 18bit ADC.... I am looking for something like Labview/MATLAB. I would be able to attach a screen to the RPi and see/record the data realtime.... thanks!
