Re: 512MB RAM on Slackware ARM?

You didn`t update all the firmware files. Somewhere .. you messed up something. arm496_start.elf doesn`t control the amount of ram going to the gpu. Only start.elf controlled that but now this is done in config.txt Before config.txt, you allocated ram to gpu only renaming arm496_start.elf to start.e...

Re: 512MB RAM on Slackware ARM?

Update to the latest firmware https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware

Also splitting ram to the gpu is now done in /boot/config.txt and not start.elf anymore.

Re: Slackware ARM 14.0

I`m hoping for a Hard Float Slackwarearm 14.0. I don`t see any advantages in running a SF distribution on the Pi.

Eric Hameleers , a Slackware developer, said he`s working on a HF Slackware ARM port but that was 10 months ago ..

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

http://slackware.spit-ct.ro I really recommend the installer created by David Spencer if you want a clean install of slackware on your Pi. The downside is that the installer is time consuming, but it`s a great alternative for a prebuilt image. http://www.daves-collective.co.uk/raspi/ The Pi devel t...

@sorinm Hello I`ll delay the release of pre-14 because since the latest changes in the -current repository i cannot compile the kernel. It gives me an error at the end of the compilation: Armedslack current has kernel 3.4.4 As far as I know this kernel does not support BCM2835 architecture. Do you ...

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

Earlier today on LinuxQuestions I announced a load of Raspberry Pi goodies for Slackware ARM, and I thought I'd cross post the news here. There's a Slackware ARM Installer image and instructions for how to use it, up to date kernel and boot packages, a package that hacks fixes for several annoying ...

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

Thanks for the appreciation. Slackware uses pkgtool as the package manager (installpkg, removepkg, upgradepkg) or if you want to automatically grab the package from the repository you can use slackpkg install emacs . The following days I`ll release a new version based on the -current tree. I hope th...

All wifi usb modules are compiled.

Your module is rtl8192cu.

You need the firmware from the realtek webpage.

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

The first command will rename the vmlinuz, the core kernel, to make room for the new image.

Then you copy the modules to /lib/modules and the kernel.img to /boot

mv /boot/kernel.img /boot/kernel.img.old

Then uncompress kernel-pi-91d69f298d.tar.gz. Copy boot/kernel.img to /boot and lib/modules/3.1.9adv+ to /lib/modules.

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

Nice work. I wanted to make an image for the Pi with the -current packages but there are not so many changes compared to 13.37. I wanted something stable (every -current is stable) and installing and removing packages on the Pi is a slow process. I didn`t wanted to run slackpkg update && slackpkg up...

Netfilter is not enabled by default. See my kernel from here: http://ns1.spit-ct.ro/raspberrypi/kernel-pi-91d69f298d/ . It`s compiled with netfilter.

Re: Card Setup

The chip on the Pi has an instruction that tells the Pi to load the kernel from the first partition. The kernel has the vfat and ext4 module built-in. Then the init runs it`s normal operation.
