Re: Quadriplegic coders

Hi, I am quadriplegic and also a computer programmer, roboticist, compulsive Raspberry Pi collector and tinker so maybe I can offer some assistance. I do these things with the use of a reflective dot on my glasses, some voice dictation software and a button under my right index finger. If you young ...

Re: SSH and Jessie Lite?

Thanks for the replies everybody but the situation seems to have resolved itself. I have no idea why, I used the same process to load the SD card in the same way that I do whenever I reinstall on one of my other 6 or 7 Raspberry Pis and it just would not work. Then, about 15 minutes after I posted t...

SSH and Jessie Lite?

Okay, am I missing something entirely obvious here or is ssh NOT enabled by default on the new version of Raspbian Jessie Lite? I tried multiple times with multiple SD cards and I was even forced to use Google before bothering you nice people on the forum! But I still can't find anything useful. Can...

Re: Simple Pi Rack 3

This is looking really cool, and definitely something I could do with. I will leave this here but I would be willing to pay for somebody's time to assemble one of these for me (as I am quadriplegic), I would even pay for detailed instructions that a non-technical but skilled workmen could build. Fai...

Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Hi Stuart, As I posted to Simple Pi Rack 3 . I'd love to get one of these together for you, somehow! I'll be posting images with short descriptions of how this one is constructed, and hopefully you'll appreciate the effort that went into it and why it took time to put together. I really enjoyed doi...

Exactly. No electronics project is complete without a blue led
This. If you've made an electronics project and it doesn't have blue LEDs then I'm afraid it's not quite finished! ;-)

Re: Simple Pi Rack 3

That looks absolutely awesome, it's been a long time and I've been really ill which is why I haven't followed up on any of this stuff ages. But would you be willing to make one for me please, all of this the pay for materials and your time. I'm quadriplegic and obviously can't put these things toget...

Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Have now put together a rack for the Raspberry Pi 3, incorporating BMS Doug's power PSU and relay switch suggestions, and a number of other enhancements. Started a new forum topic at: Simple Pi Rack 3 . It now neatly fits within a shoe-box and can be transported easily! That looks absolutely awesom...

Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Hi Stuart, Sorry for the ongoing delay. We hope to back at home before the end of June (well I hoped to be home ages ago but the work keeps going on and on). Fresh plaster is drying on the living room walls, 2nd fix electrical is still needed, flooring needs to be fitted and everything needs painti...

Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Hi Doug,

Just checking in to see how you are, and if you've managed to find any time to work on the rack? Totally cool if not, I realise you're having worked on the house but I just thought I would say hello anyway!

That's ace! I almost didn't want to click on the link as I've got this image of you in my head, sitting in a hollowed out volcano somewhere building gigantic Godzilla/Raspberry Pi based agents of doom! :-)

Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Hi Stuart, sorry for the lack of updates, I have all of the components (except for the layer separators and the Perspex, which I will have cut to shape) I have a stand in for the Perspex (Modelling card) which I have been planning to cut to the correct shap to form a template for the Perspex). Sadl...

the same mounting hole and power cable connection will also work for a Pi2 model B. Hi Doug, just wondering how you were getting along, is there anything I can to help? Also, the fact that the board will be able to take new Raspberry Pi2 is amazing! I am seriously Jonesing to get my hands on a coup...

Hi Doug,

No worries at all, that was just a bit inconvenient of Santa to not provide enough cardboard for the kids!

Time for me to make some mock ups of size, looks like it will all easily fit within 200mm deep x 250mm wide x 200mm high. Very awesome Doug! I have added a B+ to my Amazon wish list already. :-) Out of curiosity how do you go about making mockups, or do you use software or do you make physical mock...

There will be two spare relay outputs, I'll connect them to the pi but let me know if you want anything connected to them (or should I add an output connection for them?) total rack height is: looking to come in at under 200mm That all looks great, I especially like the future proofing for night in...

Perspex casing looking around I can get a square cornered, polished edges Perspex sheet for a few pounds (one sheet = one layer) (not able to finalise the price until I know the exact dimensions, I'll make a cardboard version first and then use that to specify the Perspex). Re: Simple Pi Rack Mk II

Hi Doug, Before we go any further, let me just say that I'm a complete novice and know very little about the hardware side of things. I've only ever stuck to software as I've never been out to build anything myself, which means that makes you the expert! :-) So with that said, here are the answers t...
