Raspberry Pi Kinetic Art table on Kickstarter

Just spotted this on Kickstarter - Sisyphus - The Kinetic Art Table. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1199521315/sisyphus-the-kinetic-art-table It basically draws designs in dry sand on a table using a steel ball driven by a magnet. The whole thing is under glass so you can use it as a coffee ta...

Re: Compute Cluster for Excel?

Have you thought about moving the data into a PowerPivot cube inside Excel. We've had a lot of success with that. One of our Excel workbooks currently runs with 2.5 million rows of data in the cube, and the processing time dropped from 45 mins to 20 secs. Further than that then you could look at usi...

Definitely agree with that - and I learnt a lot from it. I'd never have tried to solder surface mount components if it wasn't for the Gertboard :D

I thought people that might like to see a side by side comparison of the original Gertboard (and my dodgy soldering) and the pre-assembled version. Fortunately I found a square tuit and manage to shave the corners off :D

I built my board over the weekend - now for the testing - hoorah!

Re: No more Gert... kits

I wonder if the logistics of supplying the boards in kit form have just turned out to be too much of a headache for Farnell. Certainly when my kit arrived I was amazed at the number of of plastic bags in it. Creating those kits, cutting up the SMD tapes, making sure each kit has all the parts must b...

Re: No more Gert... kits

Please don't blame/have a go at Gert for others inadequacies. He is not a happy bunny about all this, and is STILL waiting for responses to his enquires about WTH is going on. Absolutely not! If this is frustrating for us, imagine what it must be like for Gert :( . I can't believe Farnell haven't s...

Re: No more Gert... kits

The plot thickens. If you look at the UK Farnell site now, they've completely removed any reference to the Gertboard. If you search you get no hits at all apart from results in the community. If you look around the RaspberryPi parts of the website there is no mention of the Gertboard at all. Farnell...

Rev 1 or Rev 2 ?

My wonderful brother sent me a Raspberry Pi for my birthday, but I'm not sure if it's a rev 1 or a rev 2. Could someone look at the picture below and let me know which it is ... thanks.

There's an unboxing video as well if that helps http://youtu.be/uQbakl4AVZ4

Yeah - we can all get up at 6am and crash RS and Farnell's websites again

That still makes me laugh - it was the ultimate DoS attack :D

<t>Likewise, I registered on RS about 6:10 and finally got a confirmation email from RS, time stamped Saturday 23:29.
