Re: Raspbian Buster and VNC Problem

Thanks to both "fruitoftheloom"and "thatchunkylad198966" for your comments and suggestions but I am afraid no success. I have also tried reverting the VNCServer installation to a previous version as suggested elsewhere but to no avail. I always get the same message that "either the user name or pass...

Raspbian Buster and VNC Problem

I have for some time successfully accessed my RaspberryPi model B, running Raspbian Jessie( 8), from my MacBook using VNC over WiFi. I recently upgraded the Pi OS to Raspbian Buster (10) and now can longer access the Pi. (VNC Viewer on the Mac reports "User or Password incorrect"). I have set the VN...

Miniature USB Microphone

I recently bought a couple of USB microphones from The Pi Hut but when I started to play with them found that the recovered audio level is very low. My concern is to establish whether this is simply how they are or if I have got hold of a pair of defective ones; I notice a number of reviews that mak...

Implementing a video/audio intercom

I would like to implement a real time bi-directional intercom with simultaneous audio and video using Raspberry Pi Zero's, RaspberryPi cameras and suitable colour displays, and interconnected via an Ethernet cable. Before I start spending money on the necessary hardware and time on the required codi...

Poor colour reproduction on Raspberry Pi cameras

I have two Raspberry Pi cameras; the one connected to a Raspberry Pi Zero W produces a "true coloured" image. The other is a Camera V2.1 connected to a Model B+ V1.2. Both are running the same version of Raspbian but the latter camera produces an image with a pink caste. When I run "Raspistill -v" o...

Re: Safe Use of RESET on Pi Zero

Thanks to everyone who read and responded to my query. I am using the zero as part of a workshop alarm system and this will be its only function. I am trying to incorporate a "non contact" mechanism for effectively disabling the alarm while I am in the workshop and this seemed like a very simple way...

Safe Use of RESET on Pi Zero

Hi,
can I use the RESET facility on a Raspberry Pi Zero (ie connect and hold the two pins) to safely suspend the operation of a running script and expect the Pi to reboot when the RESET is subsequently opened after a period of, say, a few hours?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Streaming Pi Camera

Hi Willie, just to let you know that after a bit of digging and head scratching, my problem is not with VLC at all but with IP addressing. I have been trying to implement a direct Ethernet link between my Pi and Mac and have not sorted out static addressing properly. If I route all Ethernet traffic ...

Re: Streaming Pi Camera

this works for me on my RPi3 w/Raspian and the Arduino 5MP Arducam OV5647 (Pi-cam clone?): raspivid -o - -t 0 -hf -w 640 -h 360 -fps 25 | cvlc -vvv stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#rtp{sdp=rtsp://:8554}' :demux=h264 then i simply run vlc on the remote computer using the network stream address: rtsp://r...

Re: Streaming Pi Camera

I have a similar problem as I wish to stream video from my Pi camera to my MacBook Pro (El Capitan) with minimal latency via an Ethernet connection. I have been following an article " Low Latency Raspberry Pi Video Streaming" by Zachary Bears ( http://www.zacharybears.com ) but this requires me to i...

Re: Change of OS

Thanks for the response, B Goode. I am only interested in connecting from the Pi to the Mac at present. I have checked that the "authorized_keys" file on the Mac contains an exact replica of the public key created on the Pi in ~/.ssh/authorized_keys. I have also run debug on the SSH programme and th...

Re: Change of OS

Thanks pluggy. I have been down the route you suggest (using ssh-keygen and then copying the resultant public key from my Pi to my Mac inside the "authorized_keys" file, in fact the process as described in "PASSWORDLESS SSH ACCESS" in the Raspberry Pi documentation section, http://www.raspberrypi.or...

Change of OS

I am having trouble getting scp to run between my Pi and Mac without requiring a password each time. I have searched extensively for a solution to this problem and I have been advised that installing the latest NOOBS OS may sort out my problems (currently running the latest available Raspian Wheezy)...

Re: Creation of SD card using Apple OS X

Thank you , gents. I think I have succeeded using the Raspberry Pi documentation as mentioned. I am still a bit puzzled as to why instructions given in a document authored by one of the "fathers" of the Pi didn't seem to work but life is too short to ponder such things excessively and I have definit...

Creation of SD card using Apple OS X

I am a new user of a Raspberry Pi (or will be when it arrives!) and have been trying to create an SD card on my MacBook Pro with the Raspian OS (2014-09-09-wheezy-raspbian.img) following the instructions given in The Raspberry Pi Users Guide (P24, Flashing from OS X, section 6). All is well until I ...
