trying to compile hd homerun dual drivers & firmware

Hello all- I'm trying to set up an rpi with raspbmc + tvheadend to record tv shows and make it available to my other network shares. In the Tvheadend backend program, under "Configuration"-->"TV adapters", I can't get the the HD Homerun dual to show up in the drop-down list. I tried building the dri...

Re: Wireless Setup

Well, I attached a good Belkin hub and I can now get the wireless adapter to show up (reliably) in lsusb.

However, "iwconfig" only reports lo and eth0, even after a restart.  What can I do now?

Re: Wireless Setup

<t>Thank you for the very informative reply!<br/> <br/> I ran "lsusb -v" and it reported the Atheros wifi adapter, but then I immediately ran "lsusb" without verbose mode, and it did not report the adapter.  This seems to support your theory, but is very disappointing, as I wanted to use the device ...

Re: Wireless Setup

<t>So, I found out runnign the "dmesg" command is supposed to give me more information, so I ran it and I got a lot of information.  It keeps saying "ath: Failed to wake up in 500us" several times.  Is that helpful?  I could also post the whole output of the file, but its a lot and it appears to rep...

Re: Wireless Setup

<t>Sorry if that statement was ambiguous....I followed every step of the guide exactly, but I accidentally ran "sudo apt-get install firmware-atheros" before running "sudo apt-get install wireless-tools usbutils".  I didn't think that really mattered, but there it is: my secret shame.<br/> <br/> How...

Re: Wireless Setup

Does anyone know what this means?

Re: SSH Guide For Complete noob?

Abishur - I just tried your method and it totally worked; the solution seemed so simple once I understood what was wrong!

Thank you so much for your help; I'm just getting started with linux and I'm looking forward to this new SSH world that's been opened to me.
