Re: pi pi connectivity bandwidth, without USB or Ethernet

How did this project go in the end?

I am trying to get a Raw HD video onto the RPi for my project at university. This was very helpful did you get it working?

Does the HDMI work as an input as well as an output?

I ask this because I can get a SDI to HDMI adaptor and then it would feed into the Raspberry Pi.

Re: Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

OK .. grab one of those and your'll be good to go .... [wind in the right direction etc....] why one of those cameras and not the RPi one ? I am designing it to work within a live environment. So for example if someone needed to check to see if the cable was sending the video data. A video referenc...

Re: Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

the GPU on the RPi does the H264 compression [which you can get at] however the fastest way of getting data into the memory of the RPi is going to be the CSI interface - that is closed source but as a Uni student you may be able to get the info from the camera manufacturer ... [so you could emulate...

Re: Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

You yourself said that SDI is 1.485 Gbit/s. We all know USB 2.0 provides a theoretical 480 Mb/s. USB is still the fastest interface on the Pi you have access to . But real world performance is different , especially on the Pi which uses a complex driver. OK. Now suppose you actually find a magical ...

Re: Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

the only way you are going to be able to get a signal into the RPi that fast is to use the raspberry camera then you can transmit that signal wi-fi may not be fast enough for full quality Once it goes through the H.264 encoder the data rate should drop to about 12 Mbit/s which is the data rate of H...

Re: Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

The Raspberry Pi does not have any kind video input. Except for the CSI port , but people (and commercial ventures) have failed for years to get access to it due to mainly legal and business decisions of third parties (which create big engineering problems). ghans But people have taken a camera inp...

Advice needed for a project. Video compression(H.264)

I am undergoing a project in my third year of university and have been researching ways to complete it. My plan is to take a Raspberry Pi either an A+ or B+ put a HD-SDI signal (1.485 Gbit/s) through it and send the video Via WiFi to an embedded HTML player and eventually an app. I know I will have ...
