Re: [SOLVED] ALSA/C-Media USB sound card issues

In case anyone comes to this on a google, I had problems with this on recent versions of raspbian (Jessie), where there is a file called aliases.conf in /lib/modprobe.d which contains the line options snd-usb-audio index=-2 and overrides the etc/modprobe.d/ files, so you need to change that one. Com...

Re: USB audio input

I hope we can get this worked out. I'm a Linux noob but an amateur radio operator. I want to interface my RPi to my transceiver for digital transmission modes and CW. This is an interesting thread for this. TJ Shickley AKA KB3VLW also on gmail. Hi TJ I'm a ham operator with a RPI2 (running Jessie) ...

Re: Raspberry Pi Autopilot for single-hand sailing

If anybody is considering doing a sailboat autopilot, I would also consider somehow putting a trim tab on the rudder to facilitate the use of a smaller less powerfull motor for moving the rudder. It would be worthwhile to get a windvane with an aux. rudder with trim tab and work from there. http://s...

Mischamole I'm looking for the same thing. Paclink seems to be the answer. There has been some recent work on improvements on the GUI too.

Re: Processing 3 is running for the first time on a Raspberr

On the last post you mentioned a noobs rasbean install, runstartx. Can you run the raspi-config, apt-updae, apt upgrade,... then run the processes 3 setup? Ater running processes 3 can you apt-get update, and upgrade without issues with overwriting files and settings,...

Re: Processing 3 is running for the first time on a Raspberr

Interesting... When I used the images off the daily update site, the first one works great, but the second one boots to a curser on black screen. I can ssh and vnc into it and it's running, but doesn't recognize my hdmi/DVI cable like the first image. I opened the display properties over VPN and it ...

Re: Yacht-Computer

OK, so I've done some more research and the Cubieboard 2 has the same processor as a Cubie 3, but more I/O and direct LCD panel connectivity (more than 1 panel). There is no way to connect multiple or direct monitors to the Cubietruck 3 other than thru HDMI or VGA. It doesn't have wifi or bluetooth ...

Re: Yacht-Computer

After doing a little poking around it looks like the Cubietruck 2-3 uses about 2.5 Amps at 5V, which translates to 1 Amp at 12.5V. http://www.cubietruck.com/collections/all There is a CubieTruck 80 out but not sure if you need that much horsepower to do what we're doing. Touch Screens vary in power ...

Re: Yacht-Computer

I am in agreement about the Raspberry Pi being a bit anemic (native hardware graphics acceleration might help), but I think the ARM solution is a great direction. What's intriguing is moving to a Cubietruck 2 or 3 and running light weight Linux and Opencpn. You still get extremely low power consumpt...

Re: Yacht-Computer

Having been a cruiser for several years I think there is a huge need for a Raspberry pi navigation and shipboard computer. Several posts have been made and I'd like to post some thoughts answering some questions and inspiring somebody to start coding. 1. Data Set. NOAA electronic charts are free. 2....
