Re: Is anyone using all the new features of the Rpi4?

Admittedly, I was fishing a little to see who really uses dual 4k driven output on a hackable lab device like the pi... I personally find it ridiculous. Even those of you who slammed me for trolling unwittingly admitted it to yourselves that the device is for education and fun. People aren't drivin...

Re: Pi4, PWM, NeoPixels and Analog Audio

Hi there, I am using the Adafruit CircuitPython on my RPi as documented here: https://learn.adafruit.com/circuitpython-on-raspberrypi-linux/installing-circuitpython-on-raspberry-pi and here https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/python-circuitpython#python-installation-of-neopixel-li...

Pi4, PWM, NeoPixels and Analog Audio

I was under the impression that the Pi4 ran it's analog audio on a separate PWM device to the one running on GPIO18... However when trying to run NeoPixels on GPIO18 / PWM and also run audio through the analog output I am running into problems... I seem to have resolved it by moving my NeoPixels ove...

Some other things you may want to consider: Disk quotas Disable or limit Chromium disk cache Thank yo so much! At the minute we are monitoring all of our server disks with Nagios so pretty sure we would catch it before a student filled the disk; however enforcing quotas would be great so I will cer...

Running PiServer with Pi 4s and Raspbian Buster

Hi all; I thought I would post a link to my blog where I have detailed getting a VMware server set up to run the Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and compiled the latest version of PiServer (with some extra tweaks) so that it works with Pi 4 devices and can serve out Raspbian Buster to the clients... I h...

omxplayer Pi 4 multi-monitor

I have just got my Pi 4 (Thanks Pi Hut! :D ) and I am playing around with omxplayer and the dual HDMI output for a project I am working on... Over here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/raspbian/applications/omxplayer.md it states that: If you are using the Raspberry Pi Foundation's touchsc...

Re: Interfacing with another system running 5 volts

So am I right in thinking that if I were to wire up as per this diagram, using 3 330 resistors; that I could read the switch on my RPi as well on the 5v system?
Thanks,
Jon

Interfacing with another system running 5 volts

Hi there; Hopefully someone here can help me as I am exhausting my electronics knowledge and I don't want to break my RPi setup... I have a system (not Raspberry Pi based) which is using switches to monitor a joystick movement. Those switches have tested at a 5 volt reading when open, dropping to ze...

Thonny 3.0.5

Thonny 3.0.5 has been released into the Debian Stretch-backports. https://packages.debian.org/stretch-backports/thonny Is there any way it could make it's way over to Raspbian? The main reason I ask is because it adds some dark themes which will make the IDE usable for my students with visual impair...

Re: Debian x86 RPi Desktop and PiServer

The documentation is very thin on the ground for adding to those standard images at the minute and there is probably more info in this thread on that front than there is on the blog. The root shell is your only real option to adjust a software image at the moment and I have still yet to get a custom...

Re: Debian x86 RPi Desktop and PiServer

I would really welcome some help on how to customise the default Raspbian image that PiServer boots my Pi3s from. I want to install some support for HATs and the like. I found the 'Shell' prompt from the Software tab in Pi Server, and this opens a root command prompt into what I think is the booted...

Re: Debian x86 RPi Desktop and PiServer

The next step is to try and get all of this scripted so we can provide a csv file of user accounts and process each one in turn; creating the LDAP user, setting their password an...

So a one-liner to get the latest uidNumber from LDAP is this:

We should then be able to increment this for each user we are adding...
