Re: Rowing machine computer - looking for guidance

I would not run the Arduino off the Pi output on the GPIO if you have lots of sensors but you may well be OK with a good 5V supply covering both the Arduino and the Pi (assuming the Arduino is 5V not 3.3V). There was this option now no longer available that you could copy the idea from - it depends...

Re: Rowing machine computer - looking for guidance

Do you know the mass & moment of inertia of the flywheel of your rower? Because without that it's impossible to solve those physics equations. I think I've got a decent estimate at least. I can't remove the flywheel, but I was able to measure it; I modelled it in Freecad and it has functions for bo...

Re: Rowing machine computer - looking for guidance

That’s a really good point; but i was hoping to keep things simple and avoid multiple complicated power supplies and so on. On the other hand, I can see some advantages of doing the low level stuff on Arduino; do you think I can run both off one power supply?

Rowing machine computer - looking for guidance

Hi All, I've recently bought a cheapo rowing machine, and since the computer that comes with it is exceedingly crappy, I thought I'd have a crack at building a replacement using a cheap second hand monitor off Ebay, and a raspberry pi. Seems like a nice opportunity to learn my way round raspberry pi...

Re: Starting out!

Thanks! So you might want 2 or 5 pi+cam to get perfect sync on images used to make the HDR Interesting - are you suggesting just running them in parallel? Or did I misunderstand? I'm also thinking about getting a cheapo compact camera that works with gphoto2. I'm a bit hesitant to use a dslr, becaus...

Starting out!

Hi All, I've been interested in getting a Raspberry Pi for a while, and now the evenings are drawing in, I think I will go ahead... I always find it's good to have a project as a way to learn my way round things. I'm thinking that I'd like to make something for taking HDR timelapse sequences. I'm no...
