Re: My Raspberry Pi just stopped?

The only thing you may have "broke" are the config files on the SD card. The easiest approach is a new SD card with a fresh copy of Raspbian Desktop on it (class A1, 16 GB or larger). Next is to use Balena Etcher to burn a fresh copy to the existing SD card but you will loose your personal data on t...

Re: zero wifi connection

The RPi probably was connected to the Vodaphone router's LAN in order to get to the internet and the rest of the network. Your W$10 PC will require access to that LAN as well and if so, you can access the RPi desktop with VNC client (a W$ version of that exists, I believe). No access to the Vodaphon...

Re: Rpi with touch screen and hdmi output

Hi. I have a rpi with the genuine 7 inch touch screen. When I plug in the hdmi to my tv I get the rainbow screen. How do I get the rpi output to my tv? So which 'genuine 7" touch screen' do you have? What have you done to install it? Which model RPi? Some detail would help us help you. In the mean ...

Re: Short circuiting risk during handling

There is no danger of your shorting anything out with your fingers. Your skin resistance is far too high. Static electricity is the killer. In low humidity environments a human body can accumulate significant static electric charge. Thousands of volts. You may have noticed the effect when combing y...

Have some patience, noob. This is a volunteer forum and you get answers if and when you get them. It is not a paid W$ forum. Bumps are lousy etiquette...on many forums as well as this one. That said, the two micro usb connectors on the W have differing functions. One is power only while the other is...

Re: Can I use this motor with driver

In a brief perusal of Adafruit's copy on this unit and their board, it looks as though it is suitable for conventional motors, pwm/servo types, but I see nothing about steppers. So the answer from this limited view is NO. Steppers normally require an "H-bridge" connection and this part does not prov...

Re: Capacitor tester

I needed one to accurately test my phono stylus leads in order to tune the preamp to my stylus. It really makes a difference! Turns out there is an Arduino circuit that uses nearly zero additional components and can then be turned around to do all sorts of other neat things. It is surprisingly accur...

For the time and trouble you would get into, better just to accept your screw(driver) up and buy another RPi, It is a whopping $35 US and as you have already demonstrated your marvellous manual dexterity, just bite the bullet. BTW, schematics have never been readily available. Oh, and welcome, and t...

Re: Pi3 overheating: would Pi4 be cooler?

I have a 3B that overheated if I had too many tabs open in a browser. It would slow to a crawl. Addition of heat sinks with the black gooey junk only marginally improved things but with difficulty, I removed the goo and replaced it with "Arctic Silver" epoxy and overheating vanished. All above opera...

That's not much to go on. You have not provided the model of zero you are using or the OS that is installed on it, its distance from the router, make and model of router, distance of the PC from the router but still you expect help.

Re: How to transmit a video captured by the camera of the raspberry pi to a PC over a long distance?

As long as you don't loose wireless connectivity, monitoring software such as motion should provide the video and a remote access service (vpn) should work to provide the feed to a remote site. Just keep the GD thing out of my neighborhood.

I do not have any experience running mics on my RPi but my vinyl to digital conversion is audibly very clean Running the low level MM cartridge signals to a preamp at the end of the turntable's 36" cables and then to the RPi. I use an Audioinjector stereo A-D https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Card-Raspbe...

Disconnect the one pointed at the beach...simple as pulling out a USB connection. Use a directional mike on the forest to minimize the surf noise.

Forget the Chinese image and follow the wiki instructions on installing the drivers. Older distros before the 4B arrived do not fully support your computer. You need a fresh copy of Buster.

Re: Best OS for raspberry pi as a everyday desktop?

It is hardly an either/or proposition. For the minimal cost of an SD card and a bit of your time, you can try them all and see what you like. You will probably wind up with Raspbian but you may not be confident in that choice if you don't try some additional options..."paranoia strikes deep!"

If you back out to the home page of the above link (your post) you will see entries for the GPIO and HDMI displays for the RPi. It is probably pretty similar, at least to try out. I got the MHS series display and it works ok except for the size and resolution but using VNC, the display can be expand...

I use a display on my 3B and it stays cool with the arctic silver epoxied heat sinks and an exposed (no case), on its side position. The GPIO pins do not require full height connections. You can (carefully) solder or use wire wrap to connect to them. The fan can blow from the side. Not necessarily p...

VNC server should share the same IP address shown in "ifconfig" on the RPi. If for any reason the server is unavailable, its thumbnail v...

Re: How to setup wifi connect

The password being required is actually a router requirement. Either by factory default or by setting in the router configuration GUI, security/encryption has been selected and Raspbian in turn requires it as well. It is for your protection. You must create a unique and hopefully complex password an...
