Re: weird problem: PIR sensor positive on wifi activity

I had the same problem with a esp8266 and a pir and can confirm that its the wifi signal. I've tried DC decoupling, buffering and scoped the signals and the only thing that helped was physical distance between the wifi module and the pir ..

Re: Raspberry Pi Highway Camera

Well you'd need some kind of server software running on your server without a firewall or at least with an open port. And a client on the rpi, taking snaps and send them to the server, but have you thought about how to power the RPI? and the 3G module will take some power as well. And the data you'r...

Re: RPi with RPi-cam + Zoneminder

Funny, pretty much an advanced version of the thing I've build .. but to answer your question:
Is this maybe happening every time the IR LEDs turn on?

Re: GPU efficienty

WOW! Thank you very very much, I've set the Q-Factor to 10 and the image shirked down to ~5kB. After increasing the resolution to 1280x720 the size came up to 60-80kB, so pretty much the same as PIL. Now I'm streaming at least 2-3 fps at 720p .. thats pretty much what I was looking for. Amazing! So ...

GPU efficienty

Hi, I've create a nice little android + rpi + amazon EC2 project, in which multiple PIs are connected to my server. Each PI can stream pictures from its camera to the server and eventually my phone. Everything is running pretty ridged but I'm not too happy with the performance (ultimately I'm unhapp...

Re: Internet traffic monitor

Just a stupid idea, but have you thought about some kind of tshark running on a rpi? Just put the wireless interface in listen mode an record all the traffic. You should maybe limit it to source and destination IP but that should give you all you need, without extra hardware or have I skipped an imp...

Re: PI Home Surveillance

Hi, pretty much all you need is a bash script for dropbox (google this) that you run via crontab (google). And you are right, you don't need another pi as server. If you are interested, take a look (actually your post motivated me to write a summary about my project https://www.raspberrypi.org/forum...

Re: And another surveillance setup

And the alarm manager & the liveview inside the app. The app is actually one of those websocket, javascript, webapps running an android service in addition. This enables me to use any pc that has internet connection to review the state of the system, incl live stream etc. Best regards and please lea...

Re: And another surveillance setup

As soon as someone comes home the phone will send another message to the server "I'm back" and the server will forward this message to the cameras as "switch off". From now on the motions sensor serves the second purpose. It will only turn on the neopixels whenever there is motion. I can also use th...

Re: SD Card Backup and Custom Image...

Hi, I've used this very very nice backup script quite a while on my raspberrys. Right now I've added a banana to my fruit collection and used it there as well. Running Bananian will not automatically mount the boot partition so I've modified the script to mount it. After starting my modification I'v...
