It's based on linux kernel (https://github.com/narantech/linux-rpi). Some apps on the Pi version use pre-compiled packages from the raspbian apt repositories.

What's the unique "selling" point that makes me want to use Prota rather then stock Raspbian? What do you do that I can't do already on my Raspberry Pis? A least one thing comes to my mind: you cannot check the source code ... We are planning on open-sourcing our OS once things get more stabilized ...
