Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

I don't believe in any memory leak - and if there's one I cannot fix it because it's in the webkit engine. All browsing engines use lots of memory, depending on the web content and on the sites visited (caches building up). In kweb you can use different memory models, using less or no cache at all ...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

Dear gkreidl, In my application, I use kweb-1.7.9, and after some days, the raspberry becomes slower and slower. I checked with 'top' command, the CPU was fine, but the memory was full and the raspberry was working on swap. It seems the problem comes from kweb, he used 87.3% of the memory. Maybe the...

Just for information if other users can be interested, adding ondragstart="return false;" in the body tag do the job :D

Code: Select all

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

I separated the display in 2 zones, a 150px zone on the top of the screen, with the input text, and the same background than the video. And I modified the video to remove the 150px, and I play it in the bottom of the screen. Fortunately, the top of the initial video was a fixed part, and here is the...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

You want to do the same thing I wanted to do some week ago. That's not possible to have the browser over the video. My need was to have a text input over the video, but that's not possible with kweb / omxplayer.

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

If you are starting with a file outside of the protected area (within your home folder, for example), command execution is disabled by default. Add "C" to your options string: kweb -JXLKRC6 .... I think it's the case, I use a system command (located in /usr/bin). I tried the C option and ...

No because the goal is to be able to click on specific zone of the video to generate events on another raspberry (with ajax calls).

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

No, not really. But there's a trick I'm using in omxplayerGUI for the popup menus: If you can catch the mouse event, when it enters a video area, you can set the transparency to 50% (128), end reset it again to 255 when the mouse leaves the video area. I had the same idea and I tried a little perma...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

You have not activated the "overlay" preset on the remote machine. Copy /usr/local/bin/kwebhelper_settings.py from your local RPi to the remote one (without changing the access rights). You can also edit /usr/local/bin/kwebhelper_settings.py on the remote machine directly by setting: omxp...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

No browser on the RPi can display full screen video, even the browsers with HW accelerated video (kweb3, epiphany, chromium), at least not on a 1920x1080 screen (it might work if you reduce the screen size to 720p). For digital signage applications kweb(3) supports something I call "simulatd w...

You won't have any luck, as all browsers use GTK or QT windows.

Re: How KODI displays the menu over the video ?

Yes the demo seems to do what i want to do, but I need to run an entire web browser above the video beeing played. And actually only midori fits my need for a true full screen without any menu or status bar. The solution is maybe to find a display manager, which can manage the windows transparency ?...

How KODI displays the menu over the video ?

Hello everybody, I need to have a video in background, and a transparent browser windows (midori) in the first plan. I tried with HTML5 to embedd the video in the background of the web page, but it's really slow and unusable, because no hardware acceleration. Thus now my idea is to have the video pl...

Re: Store data in the OTP memory of the GPU

If you have all the relevant information, then you can program a set of keys into the OTP. The existing bootrom will read those and use them to confirm that the bootloader.bin is correctly signed. There are currently no such keys programmed, and the images aren't appropriately signed. Thank you, it...

Re: Store data in the OTP memory of the GPU

Interesting, do you think the first stage bootloader in the SoC is Raspberry specific ? If not, maybe there is a way to activate signed image ? The first stage boot loader is burned into the SoC and can't be changed. You can't do what you want. You have to use an external security token. Yes I unde...

Re: Store data in the OTP memory of the GPU

The SoC does support signed images being required for booting, but Pi have chosen not to use it. It doesn't add anything to the educational goals of Raspberry Pi Foundation, but makes life more involved in supporting it or wanting to build their own system. Interesting, do you think the first stage...

Re: Store data in the OTP memory of the GPU

You can easily spoof the serial. Think again. You need an external key held on a secure external device. If I can touch your RPi I can steal your SDCard. If the system is running I can steal your data. That's why I was talking about a proprietary encryption in U-boot, you need to disassemble it to ...
