Re: Is a Flirc case overkill for running NextCloud on a Pi4?
Flirc is great for any application. My Pi4 CPU temp went down 20 C degrees compared to the official Pi case.

Re: Why does is take so much longer to copy individual files than a folder (with the same files)?
Fair point. I did the test with both smb and afp connections and copied the same files. At least five times to confirm my findings. Always with the same result. You have not said how you were copying between the machines, and with what protocol.

Why does is take so much longer to copy individual files than a folder (with the same files)?
By accident, I found out that copying an entire folder with 2000 images from a Mac onto a Pi 4 takes about 12 minutes. If I, however, copy 2000 files onto an existing (but empty) directory on the Pi, it takes about 30 minutes.
Why is that?

Re: Netatalk vs Samba for macOS & Windows
If you want network speed, Mac OS supports NFS too. It's not quite as friendly as CIFS or AppleTalk, but it's screamingly fast. That's interesting. I only ever see Samba and Netatalk installation suggestions in tutorials. Regarding Netatalk: What I noticed that if I only have Samba installed in a m...

Netatalk vs Samba for macOS & Windows
I was under the impression that installing Samba alone is fine for accessing Raspberry Pi files from both macOS and Windows worlds. Windows was always on Samba, and macOS had also moved from afp to Samba. That was my understanding. Is that (still or was it ever) correct? Are you guys, especially tho...

Hi renice123, thanks for your answer and sorry for the late reply. I will look into that but since I have no knowledge of the C language, I will try to piece together what I need to make this work.

Hi Pieter, I had the same issue some time ago, so I researched and wrote an article: https://www.thedigitalpictureframe.com/ ... pberry-pi/ so that I would remember.

Yes, indeed, thanks Douglas6.
I am a bit surprised though that it seems so hard to check for button clicks of a Bluetooth device.

Re: H2 trigger Python script on Bluetooth button click
Thanks, Douglas. I would start by writing a program (I don't think you mentioned what language you plan to use), that simply accepts keyboard input and maybe prints the character received, in hex, because I believe it sends non-printable characters Excellent, will do that. The language would be Pyth...

H2 trigger Python script on Bluetooth button click
I am currently trying to put a tutorial together for a simple Bluetooth button remote for a Raspberry Pi digital picture frame. However, this seems to be a bit trickier than I originally thought. The questions is, how can I trigger a Python script on the Pi when you click on a (paired and connected)...

H2 find the right MAC address for a Bluetooth button

Except for my Bluetooth headphones, there is no name of a manufacturer or any other helpful information attached somewhere. Is there a trick on how ...

Looking for command line for "Legacy/Original non-GL desktop driver" (raspi-config)
I am looking for the non interactive command line for the G1 option in the raspi-config menu (on a Pi 4, I believe the Pi3 has 3 options here). I found an almost complete list of the non interactive commands here https://github.com/raspberrypi-ui/rc_gui/blob/master/src/rc_gui.c#L23-L70 but I can't f...

Re: No creation of default directories with Raspbian Buster with desktop anymore?
That's good to know, thanks, everyone! Another thing that I noticed on the Pi4: After activating 4K in raspi-config, without connecting a monitor, it takes 5 minutes to boot instead of the usual few seconds. I should be getting a test 4k monitor soon so that I can test that behavior with a connected...
