Re: Enabling WiFi on Raspberry Pi 3 Minibian

Thanks fruitoftheloom, I ended up just extracting the /lib/firmware/brcm folder from jessie lite and upoloaded it to the Minibian image.

After modprobing disable and re-enable WiFi works

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe -r brcmfmac
sudo modprobe brcmfmac

Enabling WiFi on Raspberry Pi 3 Minibian

For the purposes of tinkering, I have managed to upgrade Minibian by using rpi-update, dist-upgrade etc so it works on the Pi 3. However, WiFi isn't working. I am guessing there is a modprobe command or something I need to execute. My network/interfaces file already has the relevant configuration I ...

Re: OS Image: Minibian (18 Feb 2015 Release), Upgraded to Je

The reason some of you are having DHCP issues with ethernet is probably because OP forgot to delete the udev rules. This image here has the udev rules removed and is on Jessie. It also includes an installer for various media server software

Re: Systemd cannot start a service, only booting emergency m

I just had this problem today. Go into your /etc/fstab file and make some changes (maybe instead of uid=pi,gid=pi make it defaults) then test with mount -a. A good overview of things to try is here When it successfully mounts after tinkering, then do systemctl default and wait a while, everything wi...

Re: Mumble troubles

It is very likely you may just need to add NAT loopback or a similarly named feature for your router. This features allows you to connect using your external IP inside your home network. Was the Android device connected to your home network or some 3G or 4G connection?

Re: trouble with wifi adapter (solved)

Where do we apply to get this done automatically so people don't have to compile drivers from source?

I have almost got mine working, but have wasted hours trying to get it working. Seriously regret getting this wifi module to save 2 pounds.

Re: Power for an external HDD

I struggled with this as well and thanks to this forum and some other sources I managed to get it to work with 4 different hard drives with the B+

Re: Raspberry Pi as Usenet Indexer

Sorry to necro this thread but I actually attempted using a Raspberry Pi as an indexer and it is very possible. As the rest of you point out the Pi is weak but if you only want to index 10 or so groups then the Pi will handle it just fine. It is by no means a replacement for a full blown indexer lik...

I tried this an all seemed well, installing nginx worked but I can't start it, service always fails, this is on a fresh install.

Re: [Release] NOODS: NOOBS + Raspbian, stripped down.

Will you be updating this? It doesn't boot on the B+ unless I copy over the boot files from the current Raspbian image.

It also desperately needs an expand file system during initial setup. On a 2GB card I can't even apt-get update without it running out of space

Re: Jessie barebones image for server (Lessbian)

I'm liking this, 36MB RAM used on boot. The name is cool too, says what it is and pays homage to the LGBT community :)

Should I have any concerns about the wifi power thing? I plan on using this for a media server and will be using wifi.

I managed to get this working and documented my method. You need an upstart script basically which executes mono properly. It is different on the Pi for some reason.

qiv gtk error

I am doing a class project where we have chosen to make a raspberry pi work with some sensors like a touch button to activate a slideshow. qiv seems to be the simplest way to do this so I followed this post but I get a gdk error cannot output to display. My display is connected and I can get Screenl...
