Re: Internet facing server

I plan to add a RPi to include access directly from the internet. I need to provide SSH and VPN to my network and while the traffic is minimal access, some files are needed. While I can setup a Pi for SSH and do port forwarding, I am sure I don't know all the issues to avoid someone penetrating the...

Re: Have laptop connect to Raspberry Pi 3B+ without SSH

Sorry, I am an amateur. Doesn't SSH require a wifi connection or to be in range of some router? If I want to use my drone out in a field, I wouldn't be close to any wifi connection for me to SSH into the Pi. I'll look into the Wifi Hotspot too and see how I might be able to do that. Just doing some...

Re: Raspi hotspot connects to IP 169.254.53.224

I have two Raspberry Pi’s (B3+) and a Pi 400. I have been able to set up the latter as a hotspot, but neither of the former. I tried to do everything on the former two as on the latter. But when their ssid’s appear on the remote device, and I select either one, the IP it connects to is 169.254.53.2...

Re: Have laptop connect to Raspberry Pi 3B+ without SSH

Hi, I have a drone I want to fly autonomously with a Python script on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ (with is connected to a flight controller on my drone). Normally, I'd SSH into the Pi using my laptop, but I'd want to fly it in an empty field away from my router. Is there a way I can connect to my Pi with m...

Re: Unable RUN to script on Thonny

My guess is that it appears to run at the first attempt but does nothing useful, and then refuses to be restarted?

My reading of your code is that you have a while True: loop that calls a function which does nothing but define a further function which is never itself called, in a tight loop.

Re: Extreme Beginner's Wiring Question -Pico

A couple of thoughts to kickstart your thinking - 1. Is that code at the bottom supposed to be Python? Because this isn't valid Python. The forum software needs you to use its [ CODE ] tag markup to maintain indentation. This can be corrected retrospectively. 2. Maybe the 'pickup' is in the cabling,...

Re: Help with the Zero; pleeeease

Hello, good day. Today I've bought a Raspberry Pi Zero, but I want to use it for a very specific project and I don't know if it may suit me. I want to create an OS to run on the board, I don't know if it's possible to do this instead of downloading an already made OS. I would be very grateful to yo...

Re: Ethernet not working on Pi 3 B+

As far as I've read, for most people, ethernet works just by itself when you plug it in. Literally like plug-and-play which makes sense, but for me, it's not the case. But you are not using the equivalent of PnP. You are using 'let me interfere a bit and see if it works... ' [Although I agree that ...

Re: Raspberry storage

One other point... 8.3GB on a Pi is a quite a lot of space. Unless you're storing large audio or video files, it should do perfectly well for the foreseeable future. True. But that is the amount used , not free. (But I think we can assume it implies that there will be at least 7GB free, and your co...

Re: Ethernet not working on Pi 3 B+

Hello, I've tried to connect my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ to the Internet using UTP cable and its built-in ethernet port, but it's not working and I don't know why. I've tried with different routers and it hasn't connected to any of them which suggests me that the problem lies in the Pi itself and not the ...

Re: Does VNC Server Use Enterprise Subscription?

It seems VNC Server for Windows (Home subscription) must use the cloud to allow connections between clients and server on the same local network, while on the RPi direct connections are allowed. So it seems that Raspberry Pi have negotiated with RealVNC who have chosen to offer more liberal license...

2. The value the imager is providing is the Windows username and device name: <username>@<devicename>. This was set automatically by the Imager software.

That is not a valid ssh Public Key. That will be the reason your PuTTY session cannot perform ssh/ppk authentication.
