Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

how close are you? i cant wait to see this game! told some friends about it!!! :D Give us 4 months and we'll have a basic prototype that will be publicly usable. That's my goal, anyway. By end of june. Then by the end of the year an alpha-esque thing. @Pangolin hmmm. The GPIO actually works amazing...

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

Brief update to team members: John Colby/jwcolby54's working on server-client connections. Liddy's working with general research and pseudocode. ClockworkTheif's going with world design (not got stuff ready for him to do, though). PangolinPaw's probably working on server side stuff also Dr. G/pegisi...

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

@clockworktheif Oh, cool! What model did you get, a 2? It's always useful to learn new languages: I'd recommend C++ if you're interested in working with us on any coding things. For world design and stuff it won't be ready for a while, I need to create an engine etc for that use. We'd love to have y...

Re: Spelunky (Freeware) on Raspberry pi? Anyone capable?

Yeah, since it's game maker it wouldn't be compatible until game maker exporting gets to the pi... Someone could reprogram the entire thing, but that wouldn't exactly be a port.

Best to wait for now.

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

We've had a massive surge of interest in the last few days, so this project is really starting to take off! Thanks guys for the interest and emailing me, I'm getting more on top of real life things and can dedicate more time to the project now, so hopefully we should make loads of progress! Special ...

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

I've been emailing Liddy and he's sent me some AMAZING logo/banners for the project, which I've put at the top and bottom of the main post! I've been reasonably busy in real life but have made some more progress, luckily, an update will come reasonably soon. Sorry for not checking the thread. @ajus...

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

@Hiradur that was the original plan, yes, to have a fully pi-d experience. However, honestly, it may be easier just to have the servers hosted on a proper server system that isn't pi. Ooh, that one looks interesting. I'll take a look in a second and see if I can sort it out. @JackJT8 Oh my god, than...

Re: VGA problems

So you haven't got anything installed on the pi yet? You don't edit anything on the SD. Ever. Ever. If you can get an OS installed, then edit the config.txt. Change the relevant lines. Honestly, it's better just to install Raspbian normally instead of using NOOBS. I've always said that NOOBS is for....

Re: Booting OS

A fellow Lou fan <3

No. There's nothing on the pi that you can write to, and what little there is is a few lines of ROM saying to check the SD/MicroSD (depending on your model).

Due to the absence of a BIOS on the pi, you can't change anything to try to boot from a USB.

Sorry.

Re: Pi MORPG (or, 'My Impossible Idea')

You guys are helpful. I really do need support to get this project off the ground! I can't do pixel art, let alone 3D modelling! Update: I've got some basic OpenGLES skills now. I already knew OpenGL3, so it was a fairly easy shift. I got a triangular prism rendered on the screen, which I could orbi...

Re: Best city simulator game?

Uhm, freeciv is basically Civ but an older version, and is what I'd recommend. You create units and stuff, make cities, explore, and it's fun. Micropolis is good, but without much content. It's the original SimCity, open sourced. I'd say, unless you want to mod it, there's not much there. OpenTTD is...

Re: TUTORIAL: How to get Minecraft Pi edition working!

Hi Minecrafters, my son is an avid MC player on his Windows PC, and I'd like to point his attention to the MC Pi ed. to maybe spawn some interest in programming. Before even trying, I have a few questions: - Would MC Pi ed. run on a headless Pi, having XMing on his PC? - Since the Pi ed. is such an...

Re: Pi MORPG (or, 'My Impossible Idea')

I've spent the past few hours working out a basic plot/quest line and have set up a spare pi for testing.

I need help and support to keep going, is anyone interested in this idea, or can help with it?

Simple answer, no. Unless you want to change monitor brightness, or possibly a setting in the pi somewhere.

Adding to what ghans said: if a game is open source, you might be able to recompile it for the pi. Maybe.

New technical preview update works well for me, after sitting watching it update for an hour and a half. SD card is corrupt/broken. Check your read/write switch, check it's definitely in, and if needed reflash it.

Re: Run a pythom program at startup/reboot?

Welcome. Remember in future: Raspbian is basically Debian Linux: most things that work for Debian will work for the R-Pi. Well, if you're working in a command line they're effectively the same (ARMv6 vs x86 makes program running impossible). So, try googling how to do it in linux/debian linux in fut...

Re: How do I learn C

Most programmers only ever write one program. They just modify it each time they need it to do something else. Is there something I've been missing out on over the years? In regards to OP, Geany is useful if you want a GUI, but really all you need is a command line text editor (I use nano, personal...
