Replying to my own question for anyone else looking - I was missing editing /usr/bin/chromium-browser and removing the reference to --disable-gpu where it gets added to CHROMIUM_FLAGS

I'm using the latest firmware from raspi-update (rebooted after) and I'm still showing 'Software Only, hardware acceleration unavailable' for WebGL/WebGL2

Are there any additional steps needed ?

My issues with the RPi3 are now resolved. For me it wasn't channel related as I was already using channel 1, but doing the command sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update followed by a reboot made the internal wlan0 actually start working. Pings to it were still very poor but no packet loss, $ ping -c 10 192.16...

I'm having issues with the built in wifi on the Pi 3. This is on a BT Homehub 5 along with a Pi 1 and 2. All are on the 2.4Ghz network. Most of the time when on wlan0 the Pi 3 can't be pinged from other machines (Pi/Win/Mac) on wifi and theres no route to host. Everything else on wifi can ping each ...
