Need help with understanding lvds.

Hello, I have a screen from a Packard Bell laptop - it is a Quanta Display Inc. QD141X1LH03, and I would like to connect it to my raspberry pi and use it to display some artwork from a mental health project I attend. I have searched for the datasheet on this screen, but have failed to find any, not ...

Raspbian as OS for old tablet.

I have a couple of old Android tablets, running an old and slow version of Android, and I was wondering if it would be feasible to use Raspbian as a replacement OS for these?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Cheers.

Re: Itchy problem :)

Yep, I'm an idiot. It needs at least a Pi 2, so looks like I will be buying a new Pi :D

Thanks for the responses.

Itchy problem :)

I got the old raspberry pi out, model B v1.2, and downloaded the new software onto the sdcard and installed. Raspberry pi working fine on new software, except Scratch 2. It will not load at all from the icon, the only response through the terminal is "Illegal instruction". Do any of you know of a wa...

Re: Connecting a screen

Thanks for the replies. "Actually, that screen appears to be using just straight 6-bit R, G & B signals, plus sync. It may be possible to drive it from the GPIO in 666 DPI mode, with just some level shifters. In fact the level shifters may not be needed as its input "high" voltage range is from 2.3v...

Connecting a screen

Hello all, I have a Sharp LQ080V3DG01 Screen that came out of a picture frame. It has a Hitachi INVC618, which, after using Google, appears to be a LCD Inverter, attached to it. Is it at all possible to connect this screen to my Raspberry Pi Model B? If it is how do I go about it, do I need anything...

Re: Is this Solar Recharger suitable for Raspberry Pi B+

Thanks for the replies. So it looks as if it will not be suitable for what I had intended - a simple camera set up at the bird table. I thought this might take care of any power issues.

Is this Solar Recharger suitable for Raspberry Pi B+

Hello, Lidl have a Solar Power Bank at the moment, and I am wondering if anyone here can tell me is it something that would be suitable to power my Raspberry Pi B+. The manual gives the following spec - Solar Module Power - 5.0v, 100mA Li-Ion battery - 3.7v, 2200mA Input Voltage/current - 5.0v, 0.5A...

Where are the icons?

I have installed ufw and gufw on my PiB+, but neither program appears in the menu. Is it possible to have them listed in the menu, as then I can just "add to desktop" to get the icons on the desktop. I know some will say that it is not necessary, but I'm noobish and I like to have the icons for the ...

Re: Firewall for Raspberry Pi

So will ufw work straight out of the box, so the speak, will it configure itself? I have seen tutorials on installing ufw and can do the sudo apt-get, but after that the tutorials go into setting up rules and ipaddresses and access through ports for ssh. do I need to pay attention to these or not. S...

Firewall for Raspberry Pi

I am going to be connecting my Raspberry Pi B+ through the ethernet socket to a BTHomeHub. I would like to install a firewall as a security measure. I have followed a few tutorials, but to be honest I don't understand them. Can anyone offer guidance on setting up a firewall, that is fairly simple to...

KVM or USB HUB?

Hi, first of all thanks to those who gave advice on my first question, I now have a monitor and connect my Raspberry Pi to it through a HDMI to DVI-D cable. Anyway, now that issue is out of the way, I realised there is not enough room for 2 keyboards and 2 mice/mouses so the obvious solution is a kv...

Re: Hello, and a question.

Thanks for the replies. I am restricted in what I can spend cash on, however I do surveys etc online and get Amazon vouchers for doing so, so anything bought would have to be done through Amazon. I know they have 2nd hand monitors, but at the moment I would prefer to utilise what I already have, and...

Hello, and a question.

Hello, been following this forum for a while, now that I'm about to buy a Raspberry Pi, I thought I had better join. When I buy my Raspberry Pi I will need an hdmi to vga adapter, as the monitor I have set aside is vga only. I have found two so far, one is the Pi-view from Modmypi and the other is t...
