Battery power draining

I want to make my Pi portable so that I can do some robotics projects with it, and I was a bit stuck on powering it without the wall supply. The MoPi is a bit expensive for me, so I was thinking about doing it with a battery pack and a regulator, as was suggested on this forum by loads of people. Ho...

Re: Pure Python camera interface

The Sunny connector was firmly in place. It must be the board itself. What a moron I was. Thanks for your help, anyway

Re: Pure Python camera interface

I'm getting a strange error when I try to take a still with the camera module - I noticed that somebody mentioned it about a year ago in this thread, but I couldn't find a solution in there. Running both 'raspistill -o x.jpg' in the shell and 'cam.capture('x.jpg')' using the Python interface returns...

WiFi connection on Arch using static IP

I'm trying to connect to wifi with the Pi, using Arch. When connected using dhcp, the connection works fine, but when i try to use a static IP, it doesn't seem to work. ipconfig says that wlan0 is enabled, and that I have the IP address that I've set in the config file, and I can ssh into the Pi fro...

Rootfs suddenly full

I am running a fairly basic web server from my Pi. It consists of lighttpd and mysql, and they're not used for commercial purposes - I'm using them for my college project, and as such they get no use apart from me poking them a few times a day. I left my machine on while I went away for a few days. ...

upgrade python to 2.7.6

i wrote a pretty big program on my (windows) laptop which i wanted to run on my raspberry pi, so that it could be used over the web. however, when i run the program on my raspberry pi, it just completely falls over and gives me totally different (and useless) results to when it's run on my laptop. t...

here's the result of some of the commands, and the two files which seem to be crucial. Re: edimax ew-7811un setup

the only reason i didn't show the full output of lsusb was that i've got to copy this all out from the screen of my pi - it does indeed show Bus 001 Device 005: ID 7392:7811 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd EW-7811Un 802.11n Wireless Adapter [Realtek RTL8188CUS] . Similarly the typo in the interfaces fil...

Re: edimax ew-7811un setup

if you're looking for 8192cu from lsmod, it's there (used by 0). lsusb also finds the adapter. interfaces file looks as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface etho0 inet dhcp allow-hotplug wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid "NETWORK-NAME" wpa-psk "NETWORK-KEY" #wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/...

Re: edimax ew-7811un setup

doing the one fkp4tr, running sudo ifup wlan0 says something about ioctl: operation not permitted, ioctl: invalid argument, then some stuff, DHCPDISCOVER, no DHCPOFFERS received, no working leases in persistent database - sleeping. it says that for the other method as well. for both methods, the blu...

Re: edimax ew-7811un setup

i've tried all these things - i'm starting from a fresh install, none of them have worked previously. the network uses wpa2 security (i do not know what this means or if that's the right terminology). don't those commands just give information about the connection and not actually do any connecting?
