VNC Viewer LXTerminal not loading bashrc Raspbian Buster

Hello, Just recently I have noticed that when I use VNC Viewer to connect to my Raspberry Pi 3, the LXTerminal does not appear to be loading the .bashrc settings - the prompt is just $ and none of the aliases work. It looks like shown in "VNC Viewer LXTerminal" in the VNC Viewer window. However, whe...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Pi Desktop no longer boots to mSata USB

Or maybe not! The next boot was unsuccessful, no screen output or green LED flashes, nothing. I'm going to put it down to a faulty mSata / controller board and give up with this Pi Desktop and go back to MicroSD cards! The Pi Desktop isn't much use for this RPi anyway as it is "always-on" with a job...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Pi Desktop no longer boots to mSata USB

My next step was to try writing the image to the mSata drive using Win32 Disk Imager instead of balenaEtcher… Success! Rainbox box when powered on and now booting to the mSata with no MicroSD card installed. I do remember having a problem with an image written using balenaEtcher a while back... mayb...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Pi Desktop no longer boots to mSata USB

Thank you for your reply. I'm currently flashing "2019-04-08-raspbian-stretch-full.img" onto the mSata and will update this post once I've tried booting to it... I wanted to get the RPi3 upgraded to Buster, but will try Stretch in case this is causing issues. Nope, just the same with the Stretch ima...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

After the firmware update, my RPi4 seems to sit around 57-58 deg C when idle (without desktop running). Before it was around 67-68 deg C. Room temperature is around 22 deg C. I bought a the Pimoroni Fan Shim before the firmware update and it was on and off all the time. Now it hardly comes on (set t...

Re: roblox

What about playing Roblox on a Raspberry Pi 4... I'm slightly irritated that I had to upgrade my child's laptop to Windows 10 so they could play it on that rather than their tablet. I'd like them to use non-closed source devices and learn using one of the many Raspberry Pis I have.

Raspberry Pi 3b+ boot from USB SATA SSD

Hi guys, Quite some time ago I set up on of my Raspberry Pis (mobel 3b+) at my work to automate various tasks. To increase reliability, I decided to use a Kingston SSD I had lying around to boot and run from instead of the MicroSD card. I used one of the USB3.0 SATA adaptors bought from Pimoroni (pr...

Re: Raspbian freezes when trying to unmount or remount lost network drive

Thank you for your reply. I'm pretty sure I tried "umount -f" and it was unsuccessful. I like the sound of automount... So, can I add the x-automount parameter to the mount command? I have not been mounting using fstab as the laptop is shut down every night, but the Raspberry Pi is always on. I actu...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+ Eco Wifi Hotspot Access Point Low Radiaton

Nope, don't have a microwave, use bluetooth, cordless phones or have wifi switched on on any devices when not required. We do try to be quite thorough. I'm sure that some radiation leaks in, but everything we have switched off helps reduce it. The tinfoil hat helps a bit too, but a Faraday cage woul...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+ Eco Wifi Hotspot Access Point Low Radiaton

One opinion says it is dangerous, another says it isn't. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Of course there is going to be no published evidence of it being dangerous as all the BIG companies are selling it. I wasn't really hoping for a debate over the dangers of wifi or cellphone radiation, but was hop...
